The

Princess' Freedom

Chapter 4

It wasn't easy for Liberty to get up the next morning. She knew she had to though. Her Father was coming home. If she wasn't up and working by the time he got to the Palace she would be in big trouble.

"Liberty, your Mother said to tell you to be downstairs in about five minutes. No longer than an hour till you Father comes home." Ashton said to her, poking his head into her room. Liberty walked out of her closet, fully dressed for work.

"Walk me down?" She asked him. Ashton nodded.

As they where walking down to the kitchen, Liberty started asking him some questions.

"Do you think things would be different for me if I got away from here?" she asked. Ashton nodded.

"Of course. Some may want to return you here, but once they learn how you are treated here they would want to hide you away forever." He told her.

"Do you think I'd find someone to marry?" She asked.

"Is it a good idea to think of marriage now?" Ashton asked. Liberty laughed.

"I was just wondering. My Father always says no one would want me as a wife. I was wondering if you thought that was true. If anyone would think that was true." She explained to him.

"Well, the people like your Father would most likely agree with him, but every one else would disagree. I disagree. I know someone would love to have you as a wife." He told her. Liberty smiled up at him.

"Do you not have a woman in mind?" She asked. Ashton shook his head.

"No. I knew from the start what I was going to do, and I wanted to wait for a bit before trying to settle down." He told her. She nodded. They reached the kitchen then.

"I'll see you later, Ashton. Thank you for walking me down." She said, going up on tiptoes to give him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you."

"So, what did you and little Liberty talk about this morning? I saw you walking her down to the kitchen." Lucas said to Ashton later that day.

"She was asking me questions about what it would be like for her away from here. We also somehow got onto the topic of marriage." He explained to his friend. Lucas laughed slightly.

"She was wondering if you had a girl back home. I think she's starting to like you." Lucas teased his friend. Ashton laughed.

"No, more like she was trying to change her image of herself she has thanks to her father." He said. Lucas shook his head.

"No, I still think she likes you."

"Please, it's been a day. She doesn't like me."

"Oh, Ash, you nieve little boy."

"She doesn't, Lucas."

Later that day, a young girl about Liberty's age walked up to her.

"He...hello Princess." She said. "I was told by Mithe to come help you." The girl said. Liberty smiled.

"Please, call me Liberty. I'm more like you than I am a princess." She said. The girl smiled. "What's your name?"

"Ally. I'm Ally." She said to Liberty.

"Well, Ally, I'm Liberty. We might want to stick together. We happen to be the only younger girls here." Liberty told Ally.

"I like that idea. Why don't we be friends?" Ally asked her.

She smiled. "I would love to be your friend." she said.

She was telling the truth too. She had never met another girl her age besides the Officals' daughters, and they would never speak to her. It was a nice feeling to finally have someone there. Someone besides Ashton, that is.
