Chapter 5

King Eliot never bothered to talk to his daughter. All he did was walk down to the kitchen to see if she was working like she was supposed to be. Of course, this made Ashton angry even though he was slightly happy Liberty didn't have to speak with him as of yet.

He had walked down to get her after she was done, as her Mother had asked him to. Ashton was more than happy to do it. Not only did he get to make sure she didn't run into her Father on the way back to her room he also got to see her and another girl around her age both chatting away happily while working.

"Ah, here for Miss Liberty are you?" The head cook asked him. He nodded. "Liberty, your handsome new guard is here for you. Besides, it's time for you to head up to your room for the night. I'll have Ally bring you some supper."

"He's cute, Lib. You'll be doing well as soon as you two start dating." the girl said to Liberty. Liberty blushed slightly.

"Sure, Al, you can believe that. I don't think that'll ever happen." She said.

Of course, like it had before, on the way to their destination, the questions popped back up.

"Did you have a lot of friends where you lived?" She asked him. Ashton shook his head.

"Not really. Sure, a big group of them, but not many close friends. Those are the friends that matter. My closest friends were Lucas, his brother Felix, Ellie, and Max." he said to her.

"Did you go to school?"

"Yes. I had A's and B's all through school. Okay, my turn. Is that Ally girl your new friend?"

"Yeah, she is. We met today. She's new here and we also happen to be the only younger girls here in this castle." She answered.

"Well, I'm glad. Now, why do you think you would never date anyone?"

"Why would anyone date me?"

"Lots of reasons."

"I don't see any."

"Well, I do. I know Lucas does too. Trust me, someone would date you in a heartbeat."

"Thank you for saying so."
