They sit me down.
They tell me,
'Whatever I choose
Is what is right'.
But then they turn.
Second sided words hiss
From sweetened lips,
And I am conflicted
By the information
I am not receiving.
Following my heart,
I would gladly step into the unknown.
In the pursuit of knowledge,
And practice,
I would fly into the unknown.
But there is a wall
Which forces me to stop
And think,
Which I would rather not do
As slowly,
I erode away at my expectations till
They are dust,
Or near to it.
They sit me down
And tell me why I am
Wrong, without ever saying
Those words, specifically.
They make the choice I have into
Something more monumental than it first seemed.
They make it feel like
Life itself
Is dictated by this
Single
Choice
Which I had already made in my heart.
I try to tell them what I can
See happening before me,
But I choke and hush
My tame and broken mind
To listen to them.
As if they know best.
As if this isn't
Mine alone
To decide.
They twist and they tear
The dream; the reality,
Into mundane images
Of their own dreams
And realities.
What is it
That makes them think
They can cast judgement on
What I want.
What I know.
They don't know what I know
Who I am
Where I've been
What I really want.
They sit me down
And I back myself into a corner
As I watch the peaceful view
Turn red and stormy.
I watch the wind pick up
And dismantle my hope
Dismantle my ambition
And truthfully my enthusiasm.
Till I no longer want what I want
Or what they want
I just want to want something.
They sit me down.
I wait
To lose.
