clarice anderson.
"Mom!" I called out. It's that time of the day when a sudden bruise formed in my leg.
My mom rushed out of nowhere with her messy bun on her head, wearing her usual shirt and shorts. I like her like this. Being simple and just being the mom I really need.
"What happened?"
"I got a bruise in this fucking leg and I hate it and it hurts!" I screamed like a child and buried my face in my pillow.
My mother laughed and walked inside my closet to get the first-aid kit. "Honey, you're turning 18 in two days and you still can't handle your bruises." She said while putting the pink band-aid in my leg.
I told her a simple thank you and we stayed silent for a couple of minutes. She decided to break the silence which is getting annoying by the second.
"You know, honey? I saw you cry over that Calum you're talking to me about. You love him do you?"
I big lump in my throat was formed. I never thought that my mom would actually see me well my eyes up in a guy.
I sniffed and stared at her, then looked away. "Y-Yeah. I am, I think. Maybe I'm inlove with him."
My mother crawled up in my bed and hugged me. "I can see myself in you, Clarice. I mean, you're at your weakest point but you still stood up for yourself. Look at you! You're still standing strong from two guys who teared you down. And you didn't let them be in your way. I can say that you're really a grown woman."
Those words.
Those words were the best carved ones my mother has ever said to me.
"M-mom, why are you t-telling me t-this?" I sobbed in her arms.
She just kissed my head and hugged me tight once more.
"I just want you to know that inspite of everything that's happening to you, you've got a best friend. And that is me."
I have never been so complete with my life. It's just me and my mom, and I feel so loved.
--
Another typical day and it's raining. One minute then I'm asleep and then now, a loud banging from the door was I heared. My mom is here with me and she insisted to open whoever is that someone in the middle of the rain that is banging our door.
All I heared was muffled sounds and screeching of shoes. I grew curious, so I decided to hop on my slippers and put on my hoodie, since in the house it's also freezing cold.
As I went out of my room, I heared voices. Familiar voices welcomed me and as I jogged my way down, their voices became clear and I felt the need to eavesdrop.
"What are you four doing here?"
They're four?
"We're just here for Clarice, Ma'am."
It was Ashton's voice.
"Why? She's up in her room all day because of the four of you. Especially you."
My mom pointed at a specific person and I think I know who it is.
"I know that it's my fault, Ma'am. But if you just give us another chance, give me another chance to prove that she won't be hurt again. Just please give us another chance."
And with that, I came out and felt the need to hear them out.
"Mom, can you give us the time to talk please? You can stay at my room if you want or do your work there." I simply said with a smile to my mother.
