clarice anderson.
Two weeks before, I was just an alone shit at one corner of the room, waiting for someone to talk to. And now, everything changed. I gained friends and I gained a new lover. That seems like a dream to me, and I'm thankful for it.
I texted Calum to accompany me in my day's work. That means, plans for my upcoming birthday. My phone beeped, signalling that Calum replied.
From: Calum
Message: Sorry, I got plans for today. I'll just catch up next time xI threw my phone at my bag and the smile that was tucked on my face since morning faded away. I planned so many things for us, and I totally got nothing. Great.
Hopping out of the house, I made my way to the car with still Calum on my mind. I drove away and just blasted songs to get the feeling off of my mind.
On my way there, traffic bombarded me and it just got me angrier than before. I gripped the steering wheel and grabbed my phone to call Luke. After two rings, he answered.
Thank you heavens for Luke Hemmings.
"Are you busy?" Is the first question I asked him on the line.
"Well, nope. I'm just here at my mother's office chillin'. Why?"
"You know, birthday shit."
"Where's your boyfrie-"
"Don't talk about him, bye."
I dropped the call and started driving again. I was fifteen minutes late for meeting my mum.
Great, just great.
I hopped off the car and ran over the swarm of people who were actually waiting for Bruno Mars to come out of the hotel.
The cold air of the hotel welcomed my clammy skin, making me smile a bit because of the good feeling it brought to my body.
Just as I was scanning the room, a tall blonde boy was approaching me. And we have a Luke Hemmings smirking the shit out of his face.
"I just want to rip your mouth. Stop smirking, it's really disturbing."
But in reality, it looked hot on him. I just can't contain myself I might crash my lips in his. I'm such a bitch today.
Luke insisted to be with me the whole day. I agreed and thanked him endlessly until we came to my mum's office.
"Why are we here?" Luke asked with confusion in his face. "I thought we were going to the venue of your birthday? Clarice, we are in the CEO's office!"
I laughed and smacked him lightly in the head. "My mum's the owner of this hotel, you idiot."
Luke's jaw dropped and it made me crack up. We are in the middle of the hall and my laughs were echoing in the walls. All of the employees looked at us with a glare and I just held a peace sign to them.
We walked our way inside the office and again, thank the heavens because my mum was all calmed down.
"Hi mum. Sorry I was late. Traffic and stuff." I greeted and kissed her cheek. She hugged me tight and landed her eyes on the blonde guy I was with.
She breathed and coughed lightly. "Who's this handsome guy you brought today?" I stared at Luke for a moment and his cheeks were tinted pink. The dork was blushing.
"Oh, no. Mum, that's Luke Hemmings. He's a good friend of mine and he is also the co-leader of our dance club."
I introduced him to my mum and her eyes widened at the mention of his name.
"Luke Hemmings?" My mum asked.
"Uhh, yeah? Why? There's something wrong with that?"
"Your mom's Liz Hemmings, right?"
Now, she was talking to Luke, who by now is an awkward little penguin who was standing in front of me and my mum. The boy took a deep breath and started talking.
"Yes. She's my mum and she is always talking about how good you handle your work." Luke said shyly and gave me a sheepish smile.
My mum was smiling widely and came over to Luke and gave him a hug. I was left stunned with her actions and I interrupted their little talk for a moment.
"Wait. I'm confused. Mum? You know Luke?" I asked, not really sure of what to say.
My mother smiled and sat down at her chair. "Yes, honey. His mum is my secretary in this company. She works well and maybe one day, I'll give her promotion."
Luke's eyes sparkled at what word had slipped through my mother's mouth. I can see that his heart was leaping with joy and that made me smile, too. I turned to face Luke this time.
"So, you're here when I called you a while ago? God, you didn't tell me!" I squeaked. Luke laughed and patted my head like a dog.
"Well, you also didn't tell me that your mum owns this hotel. That's why your surname looked familiar to me the first time we met at school."
This was like a goddamn reunion.

"So, here's the venue. Everything is already packed and your favorite color, which is tiffany blue in my calculations are the ones we got.."
Every single second gets boring and boring in this birthday meeting of mine. Yes, I'm getting excited but I didn't know that planning would be such a boring shit in this unholy hour of the day.
It's 3:30 in the afternoon and now we're heading to the shop where my mum used to buy me dresses for my birthday. Luke is always beside me, literally afraid of breaking something because of his height and long ass legs and his shoulders? Probably as wide as Australia.
The store was a cute one. Surrounded with fairy lights, pink chairs and tables. Just like the ones I used to see when I was seven.
And now, I'm turning 18. That was just a big blast in my mind.
Luke felt really awkward because he told me that it was his first time going out with girls, except his ex-girlfriend of course.
We entered the shop and Luke stiffened when we saw our trusted friend inside.
"What's wrong?" I asked him with concern in my eyes.
"I need to go."
"Luke, just tell me. What is with you? It's bothering me."
"That," He pointed at the girl who's turning her back at us.
"That's my ex-girlfriend, Angel."
