clarice anderson.
Today marks the best day of my life. I can't imagine myself walking down the aisle with two guys in neither my left or right. I felt anxious because my own father will not show up, just because he's busy with his new family. And I can't let that overpower me. I'm turning 18 today and I can't let sadness shower my day.
It was just 10:00 in the morning and people all over the house are running like a thousand miles per hour. They were busy as bees, but I'm just here in the living room, watching them trip over something and shit.
"Mom, why can't I help them?" I asked my overly stressed mother who is by chance finalizing the last piece of fabric in her dress. "I'm so itched to do something."
My mother huffed in annoyance and focused in her dress once more. "No, honey. Just stay there or go to the boys' room. They're probably asleep until now. I'll let you cook their breakfast, young lady. No games."
I beamed and ran up her and hugged her tight. "Thanks, mom! You're the best." She smiled and I walked away.
The stairs took me forever to their room and as I opened the knob, I can sense four dorks still snoring the shit out of them.
I laughed at how messy these guys sleep. Calum was sound asleep in one corner of the bed, Michael is lazily placed at Luke's chest, Luke is laying like a starfish in the middle and Ashton is passed out in the edge of the bed hugging the comforter in his hands.
My tracks found it's happy place and it landed on Calum's side. I stroked his hair and watched him in his sleep. The way his eyes were closed, the way his chest goes up and down while he breathes. The way his lips left soft snores. Even in his sleep, he is beautiful. Never have I ever admired a person this important to me.
"I'm gonna melt if you stare at me until dawn." I was taken aback when he said those words. My butt landed straight into the cold-tiled floor and a whimper came out of my mouth.
"Well, good morning to you, sleepy ass head." I greeted him with a smile.
He then gets up and removed Ashton's legs from his. "Good morning to you too, birthday girl. How does it feel being 18?"
"I still can't feel it, but maybe later I will."
My feelings towards Calum came fast as I expected. Knowing Luke was there, I actually thought that he will come after me, but it was just an illusion. He settled in being my escort for the night including Calum who gets easily jealous of Luke being the first one to ask me out. All I did back then was tell him it will be okay and I insisted in having two escorts because why not?
Calum helped me in making breakfast, including non-stop laughters and pancake mix fights which resulted into a big mess. We ended up cooking the last remains of the pancake mix plus eggs and bacon to top it all off. He insisted in making hot chocolate for everyone, which tasted glorious.
I never knew someone like him can make me turn around just by the smell of his hot chocolate brewing in the kitchen.
After we finished washing the dishes, he went up the stairs to wake the boys up. I was the one in-charge of setting the table, and it was an easy job.
Suddenly, my mom and Calum's mom came inside the kitchen both of them smiling at me.
"Good morning!" I beamed. "Breakfast is ready."
Calum's mom smiled. "You're doing a great job on taming my son. He was not this happy before, until you came into the picture."
I smiled and faced the both of them. "I promise you, he's being the real Calum Hood that I have always dreamt of, Mrs. Hood and--" She cutted me off.
"Joy," She stated. "Just call me Joy, honey. It's too formal to call me that." She smiled.
I beamed once again and sat across them. "Well Joy, I am beyond happy to tame your son who I know is a beast before, but he's being a softie now. He has an instinct of a beast, but his heart grew into a blossoming flower that we never expected to be."
Just as I finished my speech, four boys came stumbling down the kitchen and yawns filled the room.
"Well, good morning to the handsome boys." My mother greeted them.
Calum smiled and sat down beside me, taking my hand under the table and intertwining them. "Good morning to you too, Mrs. Anderson." He smiled.
My mother just smiled and rolled her eyes. "Call me mom, it's also too formal since your mother over here let my daughter call her by her name. I insist you call me mom. I feel too old being called by my last name."
I can see Calum's eyes sparkling and his lips forming into a wide smile. It was the best morning I could ever picture in my life. It was indeed a great way to start the morning.

"Clarice, you've been napping for the last two hours. Get to the shower, now." My mother contemplated and groaned in annoyance. It was just 4:00 in the afternoon and the party is at 7:00 in the evening.
I scowled. "Mom, I'm up. Please stay because I have something to tell you."
My bed felt fluffy that I don't want to get up, but I need to. It's my big day after all.
"What is it that you want to tell me, honey?" My mom barged in just as I was out of the bathroom.
I grabbed my bag and took my report card out. "I totally forgot to give you this yesterday. It was my present. Just look at it."
And she did. Tears were forming at the side of her eyes, but she bit her lip to stop the tears from falling.
"M-mom, I did i-it. I got all A's in my report card." I said, while tugging at the medal in my hand. "This is for you, for not giving up on me ever since the beginning, and I salute you for being the best mom in the world. For being the best mom I could ever ask for." I placed the medal over her head, adorning her neck in the most decent way.
She hugged me for dear life, her sobs filling my ears in. "Mom, don't cry on me now. I'm 18 and I just can't stand you crying on my big day." I said with a light chuckle. She just smiled at stared at me for a few seconds.
"Honey, I'm just so happy for you. I mean, I raised you to be just like me, but instead you're proving to me that you really deserve to be free on your own. Even though your dad left us, you still stood strong beside me and never left me despite of my hectic schedules, and you really deserve the happiness you're feeling right now."
It's the simple things that matters to me the most, and in a simple way, my mother brought to me the best life I could ever ask the heavens above for.

It was half past 6:00 in the evening. My hair and make-up is done. The only thing missing is my dress, that I've been longing to fit for.
The dress or should I say, the gown that Angel made was so beautiful. It was light blue, as the color of Cinderella's gown. It was flowy, and big like a flower blooming. The shiny beads adorning the middle part was shining like the moon outside. I was in awe for it that it took me a minute to realize we were running out of time.
I put on the gown with the help of my mom. She criss-crossed the fabric of the gown at my back as she held a loud sigh.
"Oh my God, I can't even imagine my baby walking down that aisle with two boys who captured your heart. You're in your legal age already!" My mom fake cried and hugged me from the back.
"I'll always be your baby, mom. I will never change. It's just the age, but it's still me."
