(Vanessa's POV)

The next morning I woke up slightly refreshed. I was still a little exhaust but nothing I couldn't handle. I headed down to breakfast and everybody was already there. I didn't take my usual seat, which was only a few away from Jason. Instead, I took the seat next to Angelika. I wanted to chat with her since later I was planning to go to investigate, the incident. I wanted to find out who sent Kyle to kidnap me.

"Hey Angelika, what's up?" I said as I sat down and nodded at Christopher who was eating next to Angelika.

"The sky," she said trying to make a joke and I just cracked a small smile. I knew she was worried about me since of what happened with Jason. I really didn't feel the sting as bad as when I saw then. Man, I hate Natalie. I wish she would die.

"So how you are feeling," she asked me while taking a bite of her breakfast.

"I'm fine," I told her, but we all know that fine doesn't mean just fine.

"Later today, I want us to check out some old files I have from my experiments and some records. Not many people knew about them so I am surprised that they could come up with a compound that matches the ones from there. Maybe the reports have a key clue finding them," I told her taking a sip from my juice.

"Yeah, good idea, I know you want to leave, if you want you can and I can finish this assignment on my own. It can't be that hard to find some crazy scientist," she told me

"Nah, I should finish this with you and then I can head back home. Once this is down I won't accept any more assignments to do with the castle, I will deny them all," I told her pushing the food on my plate around.

"Yeah like you denied this one," she asked, I guess she most of chat with Li about this. Nothing can be left a secret with her can it.

"Different circumstances," I told her, while trying to convince myself that the food was actually edible.

"If you say so...," she said not believing me and looking down at my plate. "If you don't want to eat you shouldn't." she told me

"I know," I said pushing the plate away from me.

"Well we shouldn't let a good muffin go to waste," she said taking the muffin off my plate.

"So when are we going...," I started to say but the queen interrupted everyone's conversation.

"So everybody I have amazing news. Vanessa please stand up and come here," she told me, gesturing a spot next to her. I just got up and walked towards her. Throwing a glance at Angelika to see if she knew what was going on, but she just shrugged her shoulders.

"Why aren't you wearing the necklace," she whispered to me.

"Um...," I started to whisper back. What was I supposed to say? What was she talking about? Necklace, I didn't wear much jewelry.

"Never mind that is just some small detail," she said to me before she turned to the rest of the assembly. "Everyone I would like to introduce to you Jason's fiancé and you're soon to be queen," she said smiling. I guess no one informed her.

"Um..., we aren't together." I told her and her face turned from complete excitement to dismay.

"But you two are mates!" she semi-yelled at me

"Yeah, well not all mates have a happily ever after," I said directing my view to Jason and he just moved around in his seat.

"Oh," was all she said and then tension in the room you could just feel it. Everyone was looking between Jason and me. I didn't have the slightest clue to what they were thinking but I just had to get out of the room and get some fresh air.

"Well..., I will be going," I said walking up to the door. I was hoping that as soon as I leave the room that most of the tension would just disappear.

As I was grabbing the handle, the doors flew open. I was shocked to see who it was. It was Dmitri! But what is he doing here? The next thing he did surprised everyone in the room, including me. He grabbed me by the hips and kissed me. It was nothing compared to the one with Jason.

In the background, I heard a sharp intake of breaths. Someone pulled me towards them and from both common sense and the sparks, I could tell it was Jason. Oh well it was not my fault and it wasn't volunteer like the one he shared with Natalie.

"Who are you and what are you doing kissing her?" he growled

"Well, I'm Dmitri and I was kissing my fiancé. Also who might you be?" Dmitri told him. It felt so natural to be in his arms, I thought. Wait focus on the situation.

"Jason, and I'm Vanessa's mate," he told him

"What is he talking about Vanessa?" Dmitri asked me. Everyone turned to me and let me just say I had a lot of explaining. Even my best friend was slightly annoyed that I didn't tell her about Dmitri but how could I the day after I found out was so hectic and what good would it have done. I finally thought it was going to be a nice relaxing day, but now it's just going to be another long day when will this end.
