Chapter 48-Gwen
His hand is gently stroking the side of my check with his delicate touch. He’s wide awake and I know that his face hovers a few inches from mine because of the slight brush of his breath on my skin. I feel warmth spread throughout my body as I become aware that his naked body is so close to mine, only the thin sheet separates our skin from touching one another’s.
I keep my eyes closed not daring to ruin this moment. These moments are rare and I want to treasure them for as long as possible. I wanted a camera this very moment and I imagined someone taking a picture of how we are and capture it forever. The image would speak about the love that emanated from the photograph. The love that is us.
“I know you’re not sleeping.” My mouth parted at the sound of Gabriel’s teasing voice. I kept my eyes closed and pretended to be asleep. He chuckled softly and kissed my forehead, letting his lips linger near my hairline. “You’re not hungry? I could go and make breakfast for us.”
I ignored him. “Hmm…I think I’ll go and make myself breakfast-”
“Don’t you dare go.” I finally said. “Just stay here in bed with me.” I opened my eyes to meet his blue-green ones looking adoringly at me. He was propped up on his elbow, a smile forming at the corner of his lips. The sunlight that seeped in through the curtains gave his dark hair, light brown highlights that made him look like an angel. The light surrounding him added to his unearthly being. It was truly something to behold.
I remember the day when I first saw the radiant light surrounding him here at the lake those many months ago. I haven’t seen his light since then and I smiled, knowing that his barriers were down. He was completely in utter bliss and contentment.
“How are you feeling?” He asked concern etched in his voice. His eyes were slightly wide as he waited for my response. He ran his hand down my arm leaving goosebumps behind in trail and I just melted under his caressing touch.
“Amazing.” I sighed. “It’s a good kind of pain.” I leaned in and kissed him tenderly, my hand weaving through his hair. “You need not worry, Mr. Montehue.” I said in a mock British accent, “I am perfectly fine.”
“Being the gentleman that I am, it is in my blood that I worry about you.” He chuckled. “But I’m glad that you are okay. I couldn’t bare knowing that I’d hurt you in any-”
I bite my lip as heat spreads through my body. “Umm…Gabe?” I sat up in bed, wrapping the sheet around my naked body and leaned back on the headboard. “It did-does hurt. But it’s…” I hid my face in my hands completely mortified. I mean he knows that when two people have sex and if it’s the girl’s first time that it’s bound to hurt, right? Why couldn’t I just say that? “I’m okay.” I giggled. “Don’t worry.”
