CHAPTER 8

Dean's POV

It was official. I loved Juni. Not in the hugs and kisses kind of way, but in the best person I've ever met kind of way. She drives an Impala, probably has enough sarcasm for the entire world and then some, and she listens to my kind of music. Did I mention that she listens to my kind of music?

Juni was very interesting in other ways too. She thought about things in a different way. I got the idea that she liked hunting a little more than I did at times. Maybe it was her coping mechanism. Like, the way she dealt with her family issues or something.

There was no way that Juni and Jade were 'alright' with the way they looked at each other and argued when they thought no one was close enough to hear.

I couldn't figure out why I cared so much. I never got this attached to someone so quickly, did I? Maybe I did sometimes, but not in this way. This kind of attachment was more personal. It seemed weird to even think of that, so I stopped thinking about it.

I was over thinking it anyways.

'Back in Black' had long since ended, so I took the liberty of turning the music down a bit to talk to Juniper more.

"So, Juni..." I said, glancing at her.

Juniper, who had been leaning against the window for a while now, blinked and looked at me. "How many times are you going to call me that before it gets old?"

"Oh it'll never get old, sweetheart. I think it fits you well."

"First, I'm no 'sweetheart.' Second, how exactly does it fit me?"

"I don't know exactly. But Juni... It just seems to work a bit better than Juniper. And its easier to say." I replied.

Juniper scoffed. "Well, I don't love it, to be honest."

"That's just because you're not used to having someone give you a nickname. I think you love it deep, deep down, but you're just being stubborn."

"Yeah, you keep thinking that." Juniper said, but there was a small smile on her lips.

I smiled too. "And by the way, you're gonna love the bunker. Its got more books on lore than any place I've seen." I said, excited about showing it all off to Juniper. "And its warded against every evil son of a bitch you can think of."

"Sounds wonderful." Juniper said. "How secluded is it?"

"Its pretty off the radar." I replied. "And anybody who came across it wouldn't think its anything important."

Juniper nodded, and then it got silent for a long moment, so I asked a question I was dying to hear the answer to.

"So, I know this will sound cliché, but I want to know your story." I said.

"My story?" Juniper asked, looking at me with raised eyebrows.

"Yeah, Juni, your story. You know, how'd you get into the hunting life? Some of your best hunts, some of your worst? Your story."

"Well.... Uh.... When I was 17, I found out about, you know, monsters and stuff. And I starting finding more information about hunting, and when I turned 19 I left home and became a hunter."

"Come on, man, details! That's like, the most basic description." I pressed. Juniper seemed a bit uncomfortable. "I'm assuming you're not used to this kind of thing."

"What thing?"

"The whole concept of sharing. Sharing your car, sharing information... sharing."
