CHAPTER 18

Juniper's POV & Dean's POV

*** So, in chapters where there are multiple POV's, the POV is centered in the page (like you'll notice below), and 9 out of 10 times a change in POV indicates a slight time jump. It's more obvious when both characters are in the same place, but whether or not this is the case should (hopefully) usually be pretty obvious. Enjoy! ***

Juniper's POV

"What do you mean we're leaving?"

I sighed, brushing a hand through my hair. "Its just for a little while. I need to... Have some time away. From them." I reasoned vaguely.

Jade put her hands on her hips. "Have you told them?" She asked.

"No, but I'm about to. Today. We're leaving today."

I was in no way looking forward to telling Sam and Dean about this, but I desperately needed some time to figure out what was happening. Everything was changing way too quickly, and I couldn't keep up. I needed a break.

I had no way of knowing if Sam and Dean would understand. They might get angry, or feel betrayed. But I was going to come back, I just needed time.

"We're leaving today?" Jade repeated, and I nodded with a sigh.

"Yes. Jade, please. I need this." I practically begged, rubbing my injured arm, which was still sore from the Shapeshifter hunt a few days before.

"Why? Why do you need time away from them?" Jade asked, but this time her voice wasn't demanding. It was curious and concerned. It was the voice of the sister I remembered from 9 years ago, before I left home.

I sighed, covering my face with my hands for a moment. She was going to think this was stupid. Insignificant.

"I don't know, okay? I just... I need some time to figure stuff out, and I can't do it here. Not with the guys around." I said. "So please, can we just leave for a little while?"

Jade looked at me for a long moment, her eyes scanning my pleading expression. "Fine. Tell Sam and Dean, I guess. And we'll leave." She finally replied.

A heavy weight was pressing down on my chest at the thought of breaking the news. I walked down the hallways of the bunker, heading for the library, where I knew Sam and Dean were researching for any possible cases. The room was awkwardly silent as I walked in, hesitantly sitting next to Dean at the table.

"Hey, Juni." Dean glanced over at me with a smile.

"Hey..." I mumbled. "Can I talk to you guys?" There was no easy way to do it.
