CHAPTER 7

Juniper's POV

My head was pounding, and I didn't move for a solid five minutes as I tried to catch my breath.

Finally, I sat up, and the first person my gaze focused on was Dean Winchester. He was crouched next to me, looking very worried.

"Did you have to body slam me on a cement floor?" I asked with a weak smirk.

Dean smiled with relief. "Yes, yes I did."

He offered a hand and helped me up. I took a deep breath, and Jade came over and wrapped me in a hug.

"You scared the shit out of me." She mumbled, and I awkwardly patted her shoulder.

"Well, I didn't choose to be temporarily demonized." I replied.

Jade finally released me from the uncomfortable hug. "I'm just glad you're okay."

"I've been through worse." I replied.

Sam handed his knife over to Dean, and patted my shoulder with his large hand. "Let's get out of here."

All four of us left this disgusting building and got back in my Impala. I was a little ticked off by the fact that I had to rearrange my entire car for the Winchesters to sit in the back, but they were the Winchesters, so I got over it.

We drove back to the hotel and all of us went to Dean and Sam's room. I guess we all needed a bit of time to let the adrenaline die down.

Jade was shaken, that was obvious. Dean and Sam seemed like they had experienced this before. They probably had. If I was being honest, the ordeal shook me up a bit as well, but if the others saw it on my face, they didn't mention it.

Having a demon inside of you is not the best experience in the world. It knew all of my weaknesses, and it knew all of my strengths. It was right when it said I had anger inside, and the damn thing fed on it while it was inside of me.

The worse part of it was my total lack of control. I was a bit of a control freak, but not in the way some people think. I liked to be in control of my own actions, and the demon took that away from me, and it pissed me off.

"Juniper?" I jumped slightly, looking up when Dean said my name. "You alright?"

"Yeah. Just spaced out, I guess." I answered plainly.

Dean looked skeptical, so I gave him what I hoped would be a reassuring smile. I turned to Jade a second later, standing up and heading for the door.

"Where are you going?" Jade asked.

"Let's go. I'm taking you home."

"I'm not going anywhere." Jade protested. "I'm staying with you."

I sighed in frustration. I had known all along that this would happen. "Just come here."

Jade and I went out in the hallway. It was clear that I wasn't willing to deal with any crap, but Jade was just as stubborn as I was.

"Listen to me," I started. "You need to go home. You have to get back to your job, your house, your life, okay? This is not your life."

"If I go home after this, I doubt I'll ever see you again. And what if something happens to you and I'm not around to help?"

"Jade, nine years. I've done this for nine years. I'm not that little kid that you have to protect anymore!" I clenched my fists in anger, speaking through gritted teeth. "This life is not the kind of life you want."
