CHAPTER 16
Sam's POV
"What do you mean, Cas? What's wrong?" I asked, Cas's urgency infecting me with worry.
"Where are Dean and Juniper?" Cas asked, ignoring my questions completely.
I sent a worried look Jade's way before I looked back at Cas. "They're in Dean's room, why?"
Cas walked hurriedly off, heading in the direction of Dean's room. I followed him, feeling a little guilty for leaving Jade in a confused daze, with the anticipation of discovering something was horribly wrong.
Juniper and Dean were both sound asleep next to each other, and Cas walked over to them. He placed two fingers on each of their foreheads, and a soft glow emitted from his fingertips.
"Cas, what are you-"
"Come with me," Cas ordered as he left the room.
Juniper and my brother seemed fine, so I turned and continued to follow Castiel until we had reached the library. "What did you do? You gotta tell me what's going on, man!" I demanded.
Cas sighed. "The sickness that the ghost gave Dean and Juniper would have killed them." He stated plainly.
"What do you mean it would've killed them? They seemed like they were feeling better." I responded sharply.
"They were hardly getting any better. They would have gotten worse and worse until they died. The ghost is gone, yes, but the sickness lingered. But I healed them only partially, enough to allow to get better safely."
My eyes narrowed. "Why didn't you just heal them completely??"
"Because they shouldn't know that I healed them." Cas replied.
"Why not? You've healed Dean and I before." I said, growing more confused as the conversation continued.
"If they know that I healed them, questions will be asked that I cannot yet answer."
I slammed my fist down on the table angrily. "Cas, stop being so cryptic. Clear things up!" I said.
"Sam, it was no accident that Juniper and Jade stumbled upon you. It was planned long ago."
I sighed in frustration. "So?"
"Juniper and Jade... There are plans for them. Plans that I can't tell you about. But you and Dean are a part of it as well. Dean and Juniper need to be alive, and so do you and Jade."
"Cas, why can't you tell me anything all of the sudden?"
Cas said nothing for a long moment, looking down at his shoes. Finally, he looked up at me again. "This is the work of a prophecy. Created long before any Winchester son or Evelyn daughter was ever born. Sam, I can't begin to explain how important Juniper Evelyn is. And in turn, that makes you and Dean important. It is imperative that things go the way they were planned." He cleared his throat. "I can't tell you anything else. I'm sorry."
"What the hell, man?" I said angrily. "I don't want Dean to have to get caught up in prophecies and destiny. And I don't want Juniper in it either! Whatever it is that they're supposed to do... Find somebody else!" I demanded.
"There is no one else, Sam." Cas responded.
"There has to be! I know how these things always end. Dean and Juniper will have nothing to do with this." My voice was rough with anger.
Cas was obviously upset by my outburst of denial. "Don't you understand? This is Heaven's work!" He stepped closer to me, and I lifted my chin in a sign of defiance. "Juniper, specifically, has been chosen by Heaven. That cannot be altered. They is no one else."
