CHAPTER 13

Juniper's POV

I was curled up on my side, lying on the bed in my previously designated, somewhat temporary bedroom in the bunker, with my face stuffed into the pillow. I was sure that my cheeks were still bright red from Sam catching Dean and me kissing earlier that morning.

A full cup of now cold coffee was sitting on the bedside table. I lifted my head, glanced at it, considered taking it down to the kitchen, then thought against the idea and let my head drop back onto the pillow with a sigh.

A moment later I heard a gentle knock on the door.

"Hmm?" I muttered into the pillow.

"Juniper?" Sam called, and I rolled over to look at him as he stood in the doorway.

"Hi, Sam."

"Hey." He replied. "Listen..." He trailed off, seeming sheepish.

"You can come in." I offered, and Sam stepped into the room. I patted the bed with a hand, and he sat down at the end of the bed.

"I hope I didn't embarrass you too much, Juniper." Sam said, smirking at me as I grabbed a pillow and stuffed it over my face. "But, for the record... You guys are cute together." He added.

"Sam!" I said with a groan, tossing my pillow at his face. He easily dodged the blow.

"What? I'm just saying..." He shrugged with an innocent smile.

"Dude!" I responded, not sure exactly what it was I wanted to add to that. "You are so... frustrating sometimes!"

Sam suddenly brought out the most pitiful looking, puppy-dog expression I'd ever seen in my life. He tilted his head to the side, watching as I squirmed under his gaze.

"No, don't give me that!" I pleaded. "Stop it!" He didn't give up. "Fine! I take it back - happy now?"

The look disappeared, and Sam smiled. "Yeah, now I'm good!" He patted my knee with a hand and stood up.

I stood up as well, retrieving my pillow from the floor and tossing back onto the bed. Sam's silliness made me feel a bit better about the whole situation, but I was positive I would still feel awkward when I talked to Dean.

Though I nervously anticipated Dean intercepting me as I walked, I left my bedroom with my cup of coffee, heading toward the kitchen. I was surprised that I had gained such a decent sense of direction in this place already.

I heard footsteps behind me, and glanced back to see Dean walking towards me. My breath hitched, and I swallowed back a tirade of rambling that threatened to spill out of my mouth. That would only make it more awkward.

Dean caught up to me and expertly spun around me and started walking backwards, holding out a hand. "I'll take your cup." He said.

Not wanting to pass up an opportunity for Dean to do something for me, I gave him my cup of coffee. He smirked, and I instantly knew he had some sly idea in his head.

"Okay, come on." He said, waving a hand to lead me forward as he spun around again, careful not to spill my old drink.

Dean carelessly dropped the cup off in the bunker's kitchen, then encouraged me to follow him all the way to his Impala. He and I got in the car and he went cruising down the road without even telling me where we were headed.

"Dean..." I mumbled, but he didn't hear me over the sound of his music as he drummed with his hands on the steering wheel. "Dean." I spoke louder.

"Yeah, Juni?" He replied.
