CHAPTER 17

Juniper's POV

"Alright, Jade and I are about to leave without you boys!" I shouted, eagerly pulling on a leather jacket and hoisting a bag of supplies over my shoulder and holding on to its strap. "Let's go!"

Sam responded from down the hallway. "Okay, okay. We're coming!" He called, and I poked my head around the doorframe to see Sam and Dean heading my way.

"Come on, I wanna hit the road!" I said impatiently.

We had agreed to take both cars, since all four of us were going for this hunt. I also wanted to drive my Impala. It had been a while, it seemed.

"Jade and I are getting a head start, we'll see you there." I said, urging Jade to follow me all the way to the car. "Text me about motels and shit."

I cranked up the volume of my music and twisted the key in the ignition, hearing the engine roar to life. "Listen to that, Jade! Beautiful!" I exclaimed with a wide grin.

Back in black
I hit the sack
I've been too long I'm glad to be back
Yes, I'm let loose
From the noose
That's kept me hanging about

I sang along to the song as I started driving.

'Cause I'm back
Yes, I'm back
Well, I'm back
Yes, I'm back

Jade was marveling at a rare sight: me in a fantastic mood. She shook her head with a grin of her own. For once, she wasn't complaining about my loud music and my old, yet nonetheless perfect, Impala. Hopefully that wouldn't change as we drove to out next hunt.

After listening to a few of my favorite songs and further attempting to culture my sister, I turned down the volume and glanced at Jade as I drove.

"So, Shapeshifters." I started.

Jade seemed confused. "Shapeshifters?"

"Yeah, that's probably what we're hunting. So I'm gonna teach you about 'em." I explained. "I'm guessing you haven't read about them yet?" I knew that Jade had been reading up on as much hunting information as she could, but I didn't know what she had learned.

"Nope. Not at all." Jade replied.

"Well then," I propped one elbow on the rolled down window, the other loosely gripping the wheel. "Class is now in session."

My lesson about Shapeshifters barely dented our long drive to Kentucky for the case. I taught Jade all there was to know about shifters, and then went back to my loud music until we decided to take a pit stop for gas and snacks.

Jade waited in the passenger's seat while I got gas. I leaned against the car as I let the gas tank fill up and watched the road, wondering if Sam and Dean had taken the same route behind us. Maybe I'd see them drive by.

As it turned out, the Winchester boys had followed us. They pulled into the small parking lot of the gas station when they noticed me getting gas.

"Hello boys," I greeted when the Sam and Dean got out of their car and came over to me.

"Hey Juni," Dean replied, his constant smirk dancing on his lips. "Fuel stop?"

I nodded. "For me and for the car." I said, heading inside with Sam , Dean, and Jade after I was done getting gas.
