CHAPTER 9
Juniper's POV
I knew that darting out of the bunker so quickly would seem suspicious, but I was rushing. As excited as I was to be hanging out with the Winchesters, they could wait.
It wasn't a long drive to meet Rikki. It had been a long time since I had been in contact with her, or at least it seemed like it had been a while. Only about an hour of driving would get me to the motel she said she was staying in.
When I reached the motel, I quickly parked and jumped out of the car. A few quick knocks on the door, and I heard footsteps on the other side.
"Juniper, where have you been?" Rikki greeted as the door swung wide open.
"Been a while, bitch." I said jokingly.
"So, I heard that you recently got a little taste of my world." Rikki commented, stepping aside and allowing me to enter her room. I strolled in and sat on her bed.
"Right to business, I see. Typical." I commented.
"Don't avoid my words, Juniper."
I sighed. "So you already heard?"
Rikki nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, I have indeed. Word travels fast in the world of the demons."
"People get possessed every day."
"Yes, true!" Rikki said, walking over and pointing at me. "But you, my friend, are all the talk. All over the demon news."
I chuckled at her wordplay. "Why is that?"
"Because you're a hunter, and a damn good one at that. You take out demons left and right any chance you get, so you must understand how we get excited when one demon finds the chance to beat your ass for a change."
"I think I get the point." I said with a smirk.
"Do you?" Rikki questioned. "Trust me when I say that you are currently big news. Especially because you're hanging out with Dean and Sam Winchester."
"Why does that matter?"
"They're big buds with Crowley. And they are as good as you are, if not better, when it comes to hunting. The three of you combined are like a colossal turbo machine created for kicking demon ass!"
Rikki had a way of being, somehow, extremely straightforward and extremely vague at the same time. She was quite eccentric, to say the least. But having her around brought forth benefits. For whatever reason, she helped me out a lot. She trusted me, and I more or less returned the favor. On the plus side, her comedic behavior, much unlike any other demon's I'd come across, was therapeutic to experience.
"A colossal turbo machine created for kicking demon ass? I might use that. I'd write it down, but I forgot my pen." I said sarcastically.
Rikki glared at me. "I'm serious." She said. "Demons are going to be all over your ass."
"Demons are always all over my ass. But thanks for the warning."
"And Juniper?" Rikki added.
"What?"
"If I were you, I wouldn't get too attached to those boys."
"You mean Sam and Dean?" I scoffed. "I'm not getting attached to them, Rikki."
"Is that why you're still hanging with them?"
"What? They just suggested that Jade and I go on one more hunt with them. Its nothing personal." I said, a little too defensively.
