CHAPTER 4

Juniper's POV

I was almost positive that the girl was my Siren, though I couldn't exactly tell why I felt that way. There wasn't much solid evidence to confirm this, but a hunch screamed at me to tread lightly if I should find myself in her presence.

If this was the case, then the boy was oblivious. He was trapped under her little spell, leading her straight to his home.

"This kid lives an excessively long way away from that bar." I mumbled.

I decided that if I was going to have to follow these two, I might as well listen to music, so I turned on 'Bad Company', allowing the music to be my companion on this little mission.

Company, always on the run
Destiny is the rising sun
Oh, I was born 6-gun in my hand
Behind the gun I'll make my final stand
That's why they call me

I belted out in lyrics to the song in my horrible singing voice, almost forgetting that I was in the midst of a case.

The boy pulled his car into a driveway, parking and getting out with the girl. I parked my car on the opposite side of the road, watching the couple enter the boy's home. My gut told me to get as close to the house as I could, so that I was ready if something happened.

But I had a perfect view inside through a large bay window in front of the house. I decided I'd have enough time to react if I saw anything strange going on.

I hated stakeouts. It was so boring to have to sit and wait and watch for something that might not even happen. But it was a part of my job as a hunter, so I was going to do it without fault.

As time dragged by and I continued to watch the boy and girl through the large window, I started to wish I didn't have such a great view. I was almost positive that the girl was trying to convince the boy to have sex with her.

"Don't do it kid, I don't need to have Siren babies running around." I mumbled.

Out of boredom, I grabbed my cell phone and checked for new messages. I had two new texts, one from Jade and one from Miles. I looked at Jade's first.

'Coffee tomorrow morning? I can do that before work.'
~Jade

'Sure.'
~Juniper

I figured I wasn't going to get away after this case without doing something with Jade, and getting coffee couldn't be that bad, could it. Besides, this case should be wrapped up tonight, so I won't have to worry about it when I'm stuck with Jade.

With a sigh, I glanced back up at the house. The girl was still looking very sleazy. The boy looked like he was falling for it. I shook my head and quickly looked at the text from Miles.

'How's hunting going?'
~Miles

'SOIPUL'
~Juniper

SOIPUL stood for Stake Out In Progress, Update Later. It was my quick way of telling Miles that I needed to pay attention to what was going on, that I was okay, and that I'd let him know how hunting was going when I had time. We both used this acronym all the time.

I threw my phone back into the passengers seat lightly, returning my gaze to the house with the boy and the girl.

The boy was now standing face-to-face with the girl, AKA the possible Siren. They were both staring rather intently at each other, to the point that any human being in their right mind would feel ridiculously awkward. I tilted my head to the side, narrowing my eyes.
