~Sebastian~

Why he had to deal with this new job, he didn't know. The Master could have sent the maid, or even the gardener to find out (Y/n)'s past. Sebastian doubted he could get her to trust him enough. Given how the young Lord had acted after their conversation, whatever (Y/n) said had put him on edge.

He ran a hand down his face and sighed. Perhaps this was just another game, and the cruel child wanted him to suffer even more. He was pushing him to her in hopes that Sebastian would get actual affection for her. Only to make her turn against him again. He needed a break just to enjoy the company of a feline. At the thought of the scenario, Sebastian smiled with longing.

His smile disappeared when he passed (Y/n)'s chamber doors. He didn't stop because of a shiver of apprehension, or even to glance at the oak wood with dread, but because of what he heard on the other side.

The devastated sobs seemed to choke its source, drowning her with the water of her tears. He would have been shocked to hear her cry, but that wasn't all. Between each gasp of breath was a growl of anger, followed by the rip of fabric and snap of a whip. He could hear the muffled slew of curses falling from her lips.

He looked up and down the hallway, searching for someone - anyone - who could go in and talk to her. Completely clear. He felt as if he was being pressured to enter that room, as if some force was pulling him to knock on that door. He hesitated, fearing that if he went into that room, he would come out with a brand new collection of bruises and scars.

Once there was a lull in the violence, he knocked lightly on the door, reluctantly asking for entrance.

Dead silence followed, and Sebastian frowned in confusion, repeating himself. . . A sniffle.

"It's open...Sebastian..." Her words were barely audible, but they were heavy with defeat.

He turned the knob and stepped inside to a sight that he never thought he would have the chance to see. She wasn't wearing a dress, but a thin slip that matched her eyes. Her dress was on the ground, torn and dirtied by who knew what. Her quarters were otherwise no different than when she woke up.

Sebastian's breath hitched at the sight of her tear streaked face, light makeup having been smeared and turned into something ugly. Her hair was loose and discordant on her head, and despite her overall appearance, it was her eyes that captured him. They were empty, cold and devoid of any wicked sparkle.

"Is that why you're here, you bloody demon? To stare at me? I bet you're just starving aren't you. Did Ciel send you here to 'tear me to shreds'?"

Her accusations jerked him out of his shock and he narrowed his eyes at her. He caught himself before he spoke, remembering his master's order. "No, the master didn't send me. It was my own decision."

"Then you heard me."

It wasn't a question, she knew that he was standing on the other side of that door for a long period of time. "I did."

The tail of the whip in her hand dragged across the ground as she took a few steps closer. "Close the door, Sebastian, and come here."

He shut the door behind him, and walked to her. Her lifeless orbs seemed to never leave him as she circled around him. Just like the Wolves that had hunted her.
