~You~
You yawned, stretching out as you woke up from your nap. Underneath you, the bed made no sounds in protest, cool and soft. You curled your fingers into the satin sheets, pressing yourself closer to the warm body beside you, and sighed lazily.
Wait, what?
You shot up in shock, only to be pulled back down. "Relax... everything is fine, (Y/n)," Corvus' calm voice wrapped around you and you sighed in relief. He wasn't going to hurt you; you were safe.
"Okay... did I wake you?" You looked up to see his blood red eyes looking down at you with interest as you asked the question.
"Not at all, but it seems you've woken yourself. How are you feeling, (Y/n)?"
You did a quick check, shrugging when you found nothing too out of the usual. "I feel fine... but I am kind of cold..." He smirked and wrapped his arms around you, pressing you closer. You grinned and enjoyed the warmth emitting from his body. "Mmn... better." It really was comforting being in his arms like this. The way you seemed to mold perfectly to his side. It didn't feel awkward or disgusting. It felt right.
Though, you thought about the bed itself for a moment... where were you? "Corvus, are we finally at this secret destination?"
He didn't answer at first, deciding to stay quiet for a while. "...Yes. I hope you like it here."
His comment made you pause. He made it sound as if you were going to stay here forever. You laughed, yet it came out as a nervous gasp. "We are going back, aren't we? We won't stay here too long ...right?"
He pulled away from you to stare directly into your eyes. "Why would we go back?"
Your eyes widened with disbelief and fear, your breath hitching as a cold dread embraced you. He said it so easily, as if he didn't understand the true meaning behind his own words.
"W-what? But...I can't stay here, Corvus. I don't belong here... I'll die within months!"
"And you believe your odds are better back in the human realm?"
"Of cours-"
"How naïve." His voice was no longer inviting, filled with pain. "You can't go back. You have nothing left to live for there. And those who do remember you want you dead anyway."
The truth in his words were a sharp slap to the face. You shed your disbelief and put on a mask of irritation. You pushed him off of you, scrambling to get off the bed. Once you hit the floor, you yelped at how freezing cold it was. "What makes you think that? I had my friends on those streets! I have family left, as well. Who are you to tell me I have no reason to live!?"
He frowned, irritation obvious in his expression, but he said nothing for the longest time. Instead, he pulled back the sheets to the bed and climbed out.
"Well?" You asked impatiently, "Don't just-"
"I never said you had completely nothing to live for, just that you have nothing left to live for in the human realm because I made sure to leave no proof of your existence in that manor. Your 'friends and family' believe you to be dead. You no longer matter to them, and thus you have no reason to care about them either."
Your irritation was wiped away, and again you were reduced to the fear. "N-no..."
You didn't see him, but Corvus had his arms wrapped around you within seconds. "Yes, (Y/n). Everything will be fine. Here you don't have to worry about a thing when I'm beside you. I'll protect you. You no longer have to run or hide... Have you ever even tasted real freedom?"
