Chapter 5

He leaned over, grabbed my hand, and asked, "Will you be my girlfriend? I know we have only met once and been on only one date, but will you consider it?"

I looked over to my mom to see if she was listening and she was. She was shaking her head at me saying yes. "Yes," I said.

He then turned to get something out of his pocket, and I sat there looking nervously at my mom. I turned to look at him and in his hand was his class ring. He gave it to me to wear so that everyone would know we were dating.

"Do you want to go to the movies with me?" he asked.

I looked over to my mom and she was nodding her head vigorously. "Sure," I replied.

"Okay. You ready to go then?"

"Sure. Mom can you just set my stuff in my room and I will put it in my backpack when I get home. Are you okay with riding home with my mom?" I asked Brittany turning towards her.

"That is fine! I am so excited for you!"

"Don't tell anyone that we are dating! Okay?"

"Yes! I promise!"

"I'm serious Brittany! Secret handshake?"

"Yes." So we did the secret handshake that nobody knew besides us.

"You ready to go?" Nathan asked.

"Yeah okay." I turned towards my mom and Brittany and waved good bye. I turned to look at Nathan and saw him holding his arm out to me. I took it and walked towards his car. His car was a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 and it was cherry red. The only way I knew what type of car it was because I asked Nathan and he said it was a very rare car. When we got to the movie theater we decided to go to The Martian. We got some popcorn to share and went into the movie theater.

Halfway through the movie I was watching the movie and all of the sudden I felt someone grab my hand. I looked down and saw it was Nathan. He looked over at me, smiled, and kissed my hand. I blushed and kissed his hand back. We held hands for the rest of the movie and we never let go until we got into the car.

"So did you like the movie?" Nathan asked.

"Yeah it was actually really good! I really don't care for the science fiction movies, but this one was an exception."

"Well that is good!"

"Do I need to tell you where I live?" I asked him.

"No, not to seem like a stalker, but my dad has gone to your house so often that I know where it is at. There was a lot of times that I had to go with him."

"Okay that is fine."

We made some more small talk on the way home. When he pulled into my driveway he asked for my number so I gave it to him. He then went around the car and opened the door for me. He insisted that he walk me up to the door so I let him. We stood at the door awkwardly for a few seconds before he started to lean forward. I then started to freak out. He was going to kiss me! This was my first kiss, ever and I didn't know what to expect or do. So I leaned forward also and taking a deep breath in I could smell his cologne of Old Spice. Then his lips found mine and we kissed.

He then pushed me up against the wall behind me and running his thumb against my cheekbone. We kissed hungrily for a few more seconds before we broke away gasping for air. I was so taken away by the kiss I had lost my balance a bit, but Nathan was there to catch me.

I looked up into his blue eyes and I said, "Thanks for everything. Text me when you get home?"

His eyes lit up at my question and I could already tell what his answer was before it left his mouth, "Yes."

"Okay," I replied opening my door and waving good bye. He waved back while backing up before almost running into his car. I laughed to myself and shut the door.
