chapter 33 (the one with the misunderstanding)

"hi" i nervously said as Luke opened the door. "hi. come in" he smiled closing the door behind me. "where are your parents?" i asked noticing the place was kinda quiet . "i think they went out with your parents." he led me to the couch . "oh well that makes sense" i smiled . He sat next to me holding my hand. "Look i'm really sorry for what i've done. It's just that," he sighed looking down. "what ?" i said with a soft voice , loud enough for him to hear . "my girlfriend is acting weird she's always at parties and today i went to her house and caught her cheating." i felt bad for him. he seems like a nice guy. Okay sure he started making out with me after knowing each other for an hour...but other than that. He's sweet and kind. "I'm so sorry..." i rubbed his arm. "No . It's fine. " he looked up . "Well I'm sorry for being such a jerk. i thought if i met someone new i will forget her. The anger took over me and i didn't even realize that i was acting like a complete douche. I'm truly sorry. You are an amazing person and i couldn't see that because i was blinded by-" i cut him off "Luke it's okay.. i never blamed you for what happened anyways. I forgive you Luke. Don't be so hard on yourself. " i placed my hand on his which was resting on my knee. "you're the best. " he smiled and pulled me in for a hug . he kissed my forehead and i felt.... butterflies..whatt (?)
"Do you have any plans for today?" he gave me a sweet look. "Nope." i smiled "Good. Let's go out, get to know each other better." he stood up taking his wallet and his phone. "sounds good" i smiled standing up right away.

"so ..where are we going?" i smiled as i sat in the passenger seat. "i was thinking about a walk through the city?" he smiled back "i'd love that!" i nodded. we were driving for about a half an hour until he stopped in front of a cute cafe. "let's grab some coffee first. " he winked and we got out of the car. a bell above the door rang as we walked in. we sat at the table next to the window . "this place looks amazing." i said after i spotted donuts and cupcakes . "i know. this is one of my favorite places where i come and relax. " he chuckled . "you guys ready to order?" a cute brunette came up to us. "i'll have Irish coffee and a chocolate muffin." Luke said and i smiled to myself because Irish coffee was my favorite. "i'll have Irish coffee and a chocolate creme doughnut with oreos. " she nodded and walked away. "you like Irish coffee?" he chuckled "no. i'm just trying to fit in y'know" i said sarcastically . "oh okay" he laughed. suddenly my phone buzzed. i checked it and it was a text from Calum.

i decided not to answer .

after 5 minutes of talking to Luke about random stuff my phone rang. it was Calum. i hung up and continued the conversation with Luke about my mom and how she wants us to be in a relationship. unfortunately she talked to Luke about how cute we would be together."Kayla?" he took a sip of his coffee. "i know it's none of my business but why are you ignoring him?" he gave me a weird look
"he's probably calling me for no specific reason. i bet he's just calling me to ask me if i ate his cereal or something like that. " i giggled "you should call him back what if it's something important this time?" he chuckled. "okay i will." i sighed "i'll be right back" i smiled getting out .
"Kayla?" he answered
"hi sorry i-"
"where the fuck are you?"
"did i call this morning to yell at you when you went out?"
"no. because you don't even care about me."
"what the fuck Calum ? look i don't have time to argue with you right now."
i hung up . i took a deep breath before getting back in. "Luke was smiling at me while i was walking up to our table. "oh-oh. " he frowned. "what's wrong?" he put his hand over mine. "nothing" i smiled. "are you sure. you seemed a bit sad before you walked in." he looked me deep into my eyes as he was digging into my soul to find out the truth "no it's fine." i chuckled "i see you have already finished your muffin" i changed the subject. "i did. " he smiled "you better eat your doughnut because i'm quite hungry " he laughed as i ate the whole thing in less than 30 seconds. "impressive" he nodded smirking at me. "is me eating a doughnut turning you on" i giggled "i'm afraid so" he chuckled

the day out in the city was amazing. i feel like i have known him for years not days. he's such a sweet guy. and we turned out to be in the same school which is awesome.i just hope Calum will get over the fact that Luke and i are friends now .i don't think i could handle his jealousy every time he sees us in the halls.

"do you wanna go in and watch some movies?" he said as we walked out of the car. I checked the time it was 10:15pm "i'd love to. but i think they're home" i chuckled pointing to the window which had a perfect view into the living room where they were all sitting. "oh." he laughed. "well we can still go inside and give your mom a heart attack " he chuckled "oh my god let's do that! let's make her think that we've been on a date." i giggled "okay just follow my lead." he chuckled and grabbed my hand. as i was walking behind him i turned around and noticed Calum was standing in front of our house . he looked hurt. i turned around and pretended i didn't see him. "Are we sure we want to make your mom cry?" he stopped just when he was about to open the door. "oh i'm sure" i laughed and we got in. we pretended like we didn't see them "that was the best night i have ever experienced " i smiled still holding his hand "the best thing is just about to happen" he leaned closer but stopped like a half an inch away from kissing me and looking over to the people sitting on the couch blankly staring at us. "oh hi" Luke nervously smiled "hi" i blushed . good thing my dad wasn't there otherwise he would kick Luke's ass . "Luke? Kayla?" Liz looked at us in shock . we stood in front of Luke's parents and my mom. "Mom, dad." Luke cleared his throat "Kayla and i are dating " he smiled putting his arm around my waist .
"you're what?!" i turned around to see Calum standing behind us.
