"Calum can you PLEASE stop trying to convince people that you're a kid" you yelled to your husband who was walking ahead of you with your two kids holding each of his hands as they made their way up the steps to another house.
"I'm already dressed as Peter Pan Y/N I think I deserve some candy! These tights are giving me a hard time, I don't need you giving me one too!" Calum called over his shoulder, you knew he was joking so you laughed at his playful tease.
It was Halloween for the Hoods, of course you and Calum had decided just like the past few years of trick or treating with your family of 4, you would all have a group costume. Calum being Peter Pan, you being Wendy, your 5 year old daughter as tinkerbell and your 3 year old son waddling beside your husband dressed as Captain Hook.
Your daughter had come up with the idea of Peter Pan since it had been her favourite movie at the moment, also because she just wanted to be tinkerbell and her little brother didn't have much of a say in his costume with being so young.
You watched from the end of the lane as the three children knocked on the door, an elderly lady had opened the door with a wide smile while crouching down to your kids as she held a bucket of candy.
"Well aren't you all just the cutest bunch I've seen tonight!" She said excitedly, Calum sent you a cocky smirk over his shoulder which made you roll your eyes. "But aren't you missing someone?" The lady asked, and Calum laughed. "That would be my wife, she's at the end of the lane" he said, pointing over to you. You never failed to get butterflies when he'd say the words 'my wife' because being married was still very new to you, your daughter was born before the marriage and your son was born just after the wedding.
You gave the woman a soft smile and a wave, but she waved you over instead. You got up to the steps and Calum swung his arm around your shoulder. "Well don't you look lovely this evening Mrs. Wendy" the lady spoke, the kids always loved seeing you and your husband interact in situations like this simply because you naturally made it obvious that you were in love, even though the kids were too young to understand it they loved seeing you two happy. You thanked the woman as she bent down and handed some candy to the kids, even slipping some into Calums hands which really just ended up in your purse.
Just as you were walking down the lane way of the nice woman's home, she called out to you "take my advice and don't ever grow up! Times like these won't last forever, that ones to all 4 of you!" The words made your heart swell, the kids laughed and Calum pulled you into his side and gave you a big kiss on the cheek.
You picked up your son, as he was getting tired while Calum piggy backed your daughter down the rest of the street before calling it a night. Once you all had gotten home with two full pillow cases of candy, you and Calum had gotten the kids changed into their pajamas and tucked into bed but not without Calum singing them a song. He chose Somewhere in Neverland by ATL just because it had fit the evening, you stood by the door as you watched the two kids drift to sleep in your daughters room. Your son always liked being close with his sister, so your daughter didn't mind sharing the bed.
After they were asleep, you and Cal spent the evening sorting through the kids candies and occasionally stealing some for yourselves. Eventually the two of you had fallen asleep in your costumes on the living room floor surrounded by the candy, Calum whispered sweet nothings into your ear as your head rested on his shoulder.
"You know that place between sleep and awake? The place you can still remember dreaming? That's where I will always love you, that's where I'll be waiting"
He whispered your favourite Peter Pan quote just as you fell asleep, you knew this Halloween was a special one.
