- Lux Halloway -
I stood at the doorway of the shared bedroom, smiling blissfully at the content father and daughter who lay asleep on the large, California king bed. Scarlett, in the multi-coloured heart onesie, lay curled on her father's chest with her fists tucked beneath her dimple embedded chin. She and Justin looked like twins with their agaped jar - something our daughter had inherited. Taking a last look, I snuck from the room and wandered to the living room, raking a hand through my untamed locks.
From: Ruby (at: 12:11pm)
I'm at the door, open up! xxTossing my cell onto the safety of the couch cushions, I quickly walked towards the door and quietly opened the door. My best friend, with her gorgeously aligned smile and lushion black locks draping in voluminous curls, squeezed past my sloppy figure and entered the shared home, her designer heels clicking against the wooden floors.
"I didn't want to knock incase Scarlett was sleeping." Ruby explained thoughtfully, laying her back on the floor and dropping to the heavenly couch. "Where is my favourite little munchkin anyway?"
"Having a nap with Justin." I replied, taking a seat on the couch opposite and curling both my legs under my bum. "He did the nightly feeds so he's catching up on some beauty sleep before he needs to go to the office later today."
She furrowed her highlighted brows, "He's going back to work already?"
"No, he needs to let the management know that he's going ahead with the People interview and introducing Scarlett that way." I assured her, "He's not planning on going back to work for a few weeks."
"How are you feeling about it?" She questioned. Ruby was the one of many people who could tell my feelings - as much as I would try and hide them. She knew what my thoughts were on fame and on the celebrity lifestyle, and being my best friend, she only had concern about how I would cope. "Have you and Justin talked about it? Surely he wouldn't pressure you, is he?"
"No," I shook my head. "He's not pressuring me into doing anything although we haven't spoke about it entirely. We've muttered a few words, just agreeing that it was the best thing to do, but that was it." scraping my nails across my bare shoulder, I nipped at my inner cheek and sighed.
"But is the interview what you want? I mean truthfully."
"Honestly, I could live without it." I muttered, "It's a scary thing to think about, having your face and name printed worldwide and it's even more terrifying knowing that my daughter, who is no more than a week old, will be the same."
"Is that what you're scared about? Everyone knowing who you are and what you look like, or is it something different?" Ruby pressed, flicking her bouncy curls over her studded shoulders.
"Everyone already knows, Ruby. Did you forget I carried Justin Bieber, the worldwide phenomenons, baby?"
Letting out a laugh, she shrugged innocently. My light breeze of laughter disappeared and a sigh replaced it. Laying my head on my palm and propping my elbow on the couch arm, I felt my lips fall into a frown.
"I don't know why I'm like this.." I mumbled quietly, "Even when dating Jake, I was the exact same but he's a nobody compared to Justin - the whole world watches his every move, twenty-four hours a day and now I'm apart of his life, they'll be watching me too. Most girls' would love this life but I don't. I feel uncomfortable and out of place."
Ruby's head tilted to the side, mimicking my actions I would use to understand children in my kindergarten class. Her mossy green eyes swam apprehension and a hint of worry, her infamous ruby red lips parted but no words escaped. She was mustering up words inwardly, but found her voice muted when trying to speak. I couldn't blame her; the whole situation was completely confusing.
