— Lux Halloway —
"You guys finally did it?" Ruby shrieked in excitement. Her widened eyes sparkled in delight as I hushed her with a blush and glanced around the dainty Italian restaurant. Thankfully the surrounding tables where unoccupied. Ruby squealed quietly, wiggling childishly in her seat and clapping her hands like a seal. "I'm so happy! Oh my god, this is totally what you two needed! So tell me, how was it? Was he rough or sensitive? I want details, girl!"
Ruby, throughout our high school days, was always the bold one out of our duo. She didn't shy away from the awkward subjects and often made me shrink in embarrassment, but managed to pull out my inner confidence. Immediately texting her this morning and asking to meet up for lunch whilst Justin attended a studio session and insisted on taking Scarlett, my teenage girl squealed out the exciting news as soon as we sat.
"He was.." I paused, a warming glow tingling my heart as I smiled bashfully, "Romantic." She let out a cooing aw and grinned, motioning me to continue. "He was reluctant at first, only out of worry. Every step was cautious and planned, his touch romantic, his movements tender. Everything was just so perfect — definitely a perfect end to a perfect night."
Ruby awed again, "That sounds so sweet. Were you nervous?"
I nod and sipped at the ice water, "Of course! I felt like I was eighteen and losing my virginity again! It was crazy, but they lasted no more than ten seconds."
"So." She smirked knowing, pressing her chin into her palm and leaning forward. Her eyebrow cocked as her voice broke out in a quiet but audible tone for my ears only. "How big was he?"
"Rubs'!" I shrieked. My eyes were wide, my cheeks and neck burning as mortification swept my entire body. An immature giggle escaped her lips, her body settling back in the chair as a satisfied smirk squirmed over her signature red lips — she always loved seeing me uncomfortable. Shrugging carelessly, she sipped at the ice tea and dabbed her lips with the provided napkin whilst I stumbled for words. "He was big."
She rolled her eyes and folded her arms. "How big is big, Lux?"
"Eight, maybe nine inches?" I mumbled. "Bigger than past boyfriends, that's for sure."
Her eyes were quick to expand, her lips parting and her jaw dropping. "Holy shit." I nod, "Damn, Luxy. Even I'm jealous."
"Well back off, girl. He's mine." I joked with a giggle. "Anyway, what about you and Ryan?"
At the mention of Justin's childhood best friend, Ryan Butler, Ruby's cheeks flamed. A month ago, Justin had brought up Ruby in a skype conversation with Ryan, showed him a picture from my phone and immediately Ryan wanted to exchange numbers. With her permission, they started talking and the teasing began.
"We're good." She blushed. Her demeanor had changed from brash too coy in a split second, and that is how I knew she had far deeper feelings for him that just a friendship. Ruby never, ever, blushed over a boy unless completely head over heels for him — it's only ever happened twice and both ended in heartbreak. "He's wanting to fly over but he's awaiting news on a new job which is stopping him."
"He's already met you, kinda." I reminded her, "At the.. gathering." I refused to use the word wedding.
"Not formally." She said, "We past each other but never spoke. This time he actually wants to get to know me, he even said about taking me out on a date when he's here."
"Ruby's in love." I sang teasingly. Her crimson cheeks continued to get brighter, her posture shifting uncomfortably as I giggled childishly. "I think you two would be an adorable couple. Justin too. He said that Ryan's character is just like yours — outrageous, outgoing, honest, bold but sweet and sensitive too. And just think, if you were to date him, how awesome would that be? Best friend's dating best friend's? Now that my friend, is something people would pay money for."
