— Justin Bieber —
"Justin, babe?" Her sweet, angelic voice chimed through the clean apartment. After turning into a domestic house-husband — minus the husband part — this morning whilst Lux and Scarlett napped, I was now sprawled across the sofa with my little girl laying in her swing at my side. Turning my head, I watched the beauty wander into the living room with her hand fumbling at her ear and piercing the silver stud through the small hole.
"Yeah?"
"Do you have any plans today?" She asked, peering down into Scarlett's swing and smiling softly. Her body slipping onto the small space of couch left, I hooked an arm around her waist and gently tugged her back as I shuffled backwards.
"Not so far. I was going to ask if you wanted to go to go out for lunch." I replied, "Why?"
"Well, I just got of the phone with Sabrina from work and she was asking about Scarlett. She told me that the kids were so excited when they seen that I finally had the baby and couldn't understand why I was on a magazine cover." She giggled, her face lighting up at the mention of her students. "And I was just wondering if you either wanted to come with me to the school too see everyone or if you had any other plans."
"You want me to come?" I asked, trailing my fingertips along her arms.
"Of course I do." She beamed, "The kids would love you and my colleagues are dying to meet the daddy to my daughter."
"Then I'd love to come." I smiled, pecking her cheek and shuffling from the couch. Reaching inside Scarlett's swing, Lux gently lifted the sleeping baby out and hushed her as she whimpered awake.
After gathering the necessary essentials for Scarlett and loading them into the overflowing diaper bag, laying her into the car seat and strapping her in securely, we left the apartment and headed towards my range rover. Paparazzi were gathered on the other side of the street, shoving each other like children to get pictures of us.
"I wished they would just go away for a day or two." Lux mumbled, pulling the seat belt across her chest. "I wish we could just catch a break for once. I don't know how you've done it for so long and be calm about it."
I reached across and rubbed her maxi skirt covered knee in a hope of comfort. I pulled out of the private parking lot, passing the huddle of grown men and driving in the direction of Strathern Kindergarten.
"I know you don't like this part of my life babe." I sighed, "You know I would take that part away if I could, just too see you happy."
She blew out a similar sigh, her hand slipping over mine that continued to rest of her knee. "I'm sorry for sounding rude, or selfish. I am happy — extremely happy at that, I just don't like being followed by strangers constantly."
"I know baby, I know." I murmured. The car fell silent, the quiet rumble of the engine and soothing singing of Frank Ocean's latest hit, the only sound keeping us company before I spoke and broke the non-tension. "You look beautiful by the way."
From the corner of my eye, I saw the light pink colour taint her cheeks. "Thank you." she twisted her charm bracelet and nipped at her lip. "Uhm, I was thinking about maybe going back to the gym sometime this week. Y'know, start shifting some of this baby weight."
"Already? Babe, you only gave birth three weeks ago."
"I know but, I just want my body to return to normal again." She mumbled lowly, refusing to lift her gaze lowered to her lap. "Now the weather is heating up, I need to start wearing shorts again but I don't want my thunder thighs sticking out. That's something nobody — including the entire world — needs to see."
