-Lux Halloway -The sunlight caught the corner of the solitaire frame carved with 4 carat diamonds and 14 carat diamond center making it sparkling and shine in it's breathtaking beauty. I wiggled my finger, beaming larger as it twinkles with the catching light. I held in a inner squeal as I admired the exquisite rock cushioned around my finger, a habit since Justin's surprise proposal two weeks ago with the expensive beauty.
It wasn't a surprise however when I accepted with an emotional blubber, smothering him in a million and one kisses and choking him into a deathly hug. Now it seemed like our family was finally connecting into one. After all my wishing and all my praying, my dream was finally coming true.
"Scarlett, baby, what on earth are you doing?" I laughed aloud at the small infant who held her toy behind her head. I pushed the chopped mixture of fruits into the blender and secured the cap. She giggles, hoisting the toy back from behind her head and chucking it on the floor. "Hey now, that wasn't very nice. What did Minnie Mouse do on you?"
She giggles, flailing her arms and legs excitedly as I say the teddy back on her highchair table. I blended the fruits, dishing it out into the tall smoothie glass for a healthy breakfast snack.. Since Scarlett was a month old and I was determined to get back in shape, I had been receiving advice from celebrity and non-celebrity moms about tips. Drinking blended fruits and veggies seem to be the highly recommended option, and slowly I was seeing improvement to my postpartum body.
"Scar want a taste?" I cooed, dipping my finger into the thick liquid before holding it to Scarlett's lips. "Ow! Don't bite mommy's finger, Scarlett." She smacks her lips together, savouring the taste that tingled on her tongue as she hums. "Nommy-nommy?"
"Nom-nom-nom-nom." She chants, excitedly flapping her arms again. She makes grabby hands, indicating she wanted more.
"Only a little more. You've already had your breakfast greedy bum." I giggle, dipping my finger tip in again and holding it to her lips. "You really do have your daddy's appetite, baby."
"Da-da." She says. "Da-da, da-da."
"Da-da's working princess, he'll be home soon." I reply, glancing up to the clock and watching as it struck nine in the morning. He rushed off at four-thirty, saying that he had a meeting with his producer for finalization on the album at five then another meeting with management at six. He promised he would be no later than eight, but a spoilt breakfast and hour later, he still wasn't in sight. "I hope. C'mon, let's go get you bathed. Hopefully daddy will be home then."
As she sat in the tepid water, secured by the bath seat and with bath toys to keep her company, I washed her body with the strawberry smelling baby body wash. Suddenly, I heard the apartment door slam shut.
"Lux? Babe, I'm home!" He calls. The thumps letting me know his shoes were being removed, the clanking from keys being thrown on the kitchen counter as he passed. "Babe?"
"Bathroom." I reply. Scarlett immediately perks up, grinning widely as slamming her hands on the bath water as she hears her fathers Canadian rasp. As he appears in the doorway, lowering his gaze to my body on the floor and Scarlett's in the water, I could spot his stressful facial features a mile away.
"Da-da!" Scarlett beams, pointing up to him.
"Hi princess." He coos heartedly. He reaches into the bath, kissing wet hair then moving to mine. "Morning, fiancée."
My heart lept, somersaulting multiple times as butterflies tickled my ribcage and my stomach twisted into knots. It felt like a circus was living inside me at the mere mention of the word - fiancée; it didn't seem real.
