- Justin Bieber -"Are you telling uncle 'Fredo a story, pretty girl? I think you are." Alfredo cooed, picking up Scarlett's toy keys and setting them back on her walker as she slammed her hands against the plastic and giggled wildly. She babbled and drooled, giggled and grinned while I occupied myself with a pile of work that needed to be complete before leaving. "Ah-ah, you can't eat that baby. You'll hurt your gums."
"It's like she has gums of steel, bro'. She's been munching on anything and everything she can get her hands on." I said, digging my heels into the studio ground and turning the swingy chair around. Scarlett gummily grinned at me, excitedly kicking her legs and thrashing her arms. "She even tried to eat my wallet, didn't you monkey? If you had teeth daddy would've been forking out four hundred and seventy dollars for another Vuitton wallet, yes he would."
I nudged her nose with my pointer finger and laughed as she erupted in squeals of giggles, thumping her hands against the plastic cover of her walker. She was unable to push herself round in it but with the toys attached, it was more entertaining than sitting in her stroller. Running a hand through my hair, I stretched as Alfredo continued to watch Scarlett in fascination.
"You know, she's almost seven months but I still can't wrap my head around you being a 'papa!" He breathed with a slight laugh. "Especially to someone so freaking adorable! How did your daddy manage to make you, huh?"
Unfazed, Scarlett was mesmerised with the colourful, lighting up buttons as I smiled. "I ask myself that everyday bro'. God was definitely looking out for me when he placed Scarlett and Lux into my life, they are my life now. Which reminds me, can I talk to you about a few things?"
"Don't tell me you've knocked Lux up already?" He blurted, "Damn Bieber, you move fast."
I laughed and shook my head. "No, no. It's not that - we're waiting until Scarlett's a little older before trying for another child but it's the step that big step I was suppose to take before having kids."
"You mean marriage?" He said, bulged eyed. I nod silently and he gaped in shock before stammering. "You're going to pop the question? When, why, how - what?"
I nipped at my inner cheek. "I've been thinking about it for a while and I can't imagine my life without her - as cheesy as it sounds. I love her to absolute death and not just because we've got this beautiful daughter together, but because I can be myself around her. She doesn't use me, she doesn't want me for my money or the fame, in fact she would rather stay away from it and she's just the most genuine, most beautiful, most perfect person I've ever met. She's what I need, she's what I want and what I've been missing. Sure I'm only twenty-two, almost twenty-three, but I've always said I wanted to settle down before I was twenty-five and I feel like now is the right time to do it - with Lux."
Undoubtedly, my cheeks roared with shyness as the eyes of my music producers, best friend and photographer, manager and stylist all fell on me. Even my own daughter as if she knew who I was talking about. I rubbed my sweaty palms along my jean clad covered legs and swallowed as Scooter cleared his throat and set his papers down. Without saying a word, a gush of aw's exploded from Carin's mouth.
"That is so cute and romantic!" She exclaimed, swiftly whacking Scooter's arm with the back of her hand and earning an exaggerated 'ow'. He rubbed the spot and narrowed his eyes, only to receive a glare back. "Why can't you be that cute and romantic?"
"Why should I when you hit me like that?" He huffed. She rolled her eyes while he shook his head, still rubbing his bicep. "Well bud, I don't really know what to say. That decision is yours and yours only, nobody can or should tell you what to do. Personally, I knew it that topic was coming and I will obviously support you, whatever choice or outcome. I'm behind you man, one hundred percent behind you but of course, there is one condition." I held my breath, preparing for a deathly circumstance but as he cracked a smile, relief washed over me. "I'm your best man."
