Mikey never thought he'd be jealous of someone because of who they were friends with. He wasn't a very jealous person, but he wasn't sure of who he was anymore, so whatever he thought about himself before didn't matter.

He didn't mean to be so dramatic, but he felt very confused about a lot of things, and that was a good enough excuse for him. Mikey just sat and watched as Pete and Patrick had their conversation. He wanted to be involved, but it had nothing to do with him, and he didn't want to involve himself in other people's business.

That was a lie, though. Mikey wanted to be involved in all of Pete's business, but, of course, he wouldn't be.

"Mikey," Pete said, turning around, "the bell's going to go in a few minutes, do you want to come to your lesson with us?"
"I have Art," Mikey said, hoping Pete wouldn't be anywhere near him, he didn't want to see him during a lesson and make it difficult, "then English, what about you?"
"We have French, then Geography," Patrick said, stealing the conversation from Pete, "would you like to meet up with us after school?"

Mikey was surprised to be invited out by Patrick, but he accepted the offer nevertheless. He thought it might be good to get to know Patrick, as well as Pete, so he had even more options for friends in school. It wasn't like he didn't think of Patrick as an option already, he just thought it might be better if he actually knew him.

Mikey waved to Pete and Patrick and made his way to Art. It wasn't too far considering where he'd been all lunchtime, so he walked slowly. Art wasn't something he wanted to be particularly early to, so he didn't rush.

When he got to the classroom, Ryan, Jon and Spencer were already outside, waiting for the teacher to let them in.

"Hi, Michael," Ryan smiled, "what's up?"
"Not much," Mikey said, "I'm okay, what about you guys?"
"I'm fine," Spencer answered
"I'm alright, too," Jon said, nodding.
"Good--"

Mikey was already bored of their conversation. He didn't know how they enjoyed each other's company when all they ever seemed to do was sit in silence. That didn't matter, though, as the teacher came through the crowded corridor and into the classroom. They told everyone to go in, sit down in their new seat and get their books out.

Once inside the classroom, Mikey checked the seating plan. He was never sure why this particular teacher was so obsessed with assigning seats, but no one was ever bothered by it. Mikey went over to his seat, at the very back of the classroom and sat down. He was the first person on the table, but forget to check who else sat there.

The tables were in groups of four, and Mikey wasn't exactly excited to find out which other three people would be sitting with him. He could already see Ryan and Jon sitting next to each other, leaving Spencer to sit by himself on the other side of the room. Mikey asked Spencer if he knew who he was sitting with, but he said he didn't.

There was still another minute before the lesson started, so not everyone was there yet. Mikey got up to check the seating plan, and put his curiosity to rest. According to the sheet, Spencer had the joy of sitting opposite Brendon for the next few weeks. Mikey didn't have any real idea of who the people he was sitting with were, but he definitely recognised their names. There were two boys, Joshua Dun and Tyler Joseph, and one girl, Ashley Frangipane. As far as he knew, Ashley had only started the school at the start of the year, but he didn't know.

The bell rang, signalling the beginning of the lesson, and a flood of people rushed in and filled the empty seats. Mikey sighed as he saw Joshua, Tyler and Ashley come in as a group, showing they were already friends. He'd hoped they'd all be friends, but if they already knew each other well then he'd probably end up being ignored.
