I can't believe it. I just can't.

When I drive over to my usually parking spot, my mouth literally drops as I notice a blue Audi parked in it.

"Wonderful," I mumble under my breath. Today's going to be shit.

Gratefully, I find another parking spot not too far from the school's entrance and park. I pull down my mirror and apply some more lip gloss onto my lips, fix my hair, and pop in some 5 gum.

"Here goes nothing."

Taking a deep breath, I slowly open my car door and get out. Locking the car, I adjust my back pack over my shoulder and walk towards school. For now, I don't think anyone's looking at me suspiciously. Hopefully Blue was joking yesterday when she cut me off. I mean, she can't even do that, can she? Who says? My friends and I didn't form some kind of blood pack or sorority. You can't just cut someone off because they've become a better person.

When I finally reach the entrance, I rush to get away from the cold. That's when I spot Sean, Derrick, Blue, Gina, Janet, and some other people. OhmyGod. They're all huddled together, not in a circle and not all talking to each other like in some toddler Good News Monday sharing activity.

Ignoring them, I take a huge bite of my apple and chew as I pick up my speed, praying to go unnoticed.

A girl ahead of me holds the door and I smile at her, taking it.

"Thanks."

"Yup."

Suddenly, loud, hysterical laughter erupts from the direction of my old group and my body heats up. It doesn't seem so cold anymore.

"Hey, where are you going Marilyn?" Someone calls.

I turn my body, furious yet nervous at the same time. If I continue to walk, I'd be deemed a coward. I'd have to face them at some point anyway.

"Going to class, got a problem?" I tell back, moving out of the way of incoming pupil traffic.

Sean, Blue, Derrick, Gina, and Janet walk towards me. Nervously, I pull out my cell phone from my back pocket and pretend as if I'm interested in looking at something. I hope they can't see my shaking hands.

"You always know what to say, don't you?" Sean smirks, getting up off the metal bench, his arms crossed, and strolling towards me. I really long to go inside.

"It's so much better with you gone," he admits, leaning against the stair bar.

I cross my arms.

"Is it?"

"Mhm." He hums.

"Then I'm glad."

All five pairs of eyes are suddenly on me. Open wide in disbelief.

"Whatever. She's just trying to act like we don't matter to her," Blue adds. "We were so sick and tired of you're stupid rants and whining and complaining and stealing boyfriends-"

"Look, I get it okay?" I snap, my body on fire. I'm afraid they can see my heart beating out of my chest right now. "I wasn't the nicest person to be friends with, I know. I was selfish and snotty and mean-"

"You were, and still are Marilyn!" Gina yells from the group, her mouth full of something. They all laugh and I finally understand what it's like to be on the outside. I was always the one of the inside, the centre of attention. But now I'm the one people are looking down on.
