After seeing little Cleo pass out while strapped down to the metal table, the doctor Melody stood up from where she was sitting  in the corner of the room. She slowly made her way towards where the huddle of other doctors were as they continued doing horrible things to the child in order to create the vaccine.

There was a tray of scalpels set on a rolling table, which Melody quickly noticing, grabbing one. She gripped the blade tightly and approached the huddle surrounding Cleo.

With a slightly shaky voice, she said, "If anyone makes another move on the girl, I put a blade in their chest."

The doctors all whipped around, forgetting about Cleo for a moment as they stepped towards a frightened Melody.

°•°Steven's POV°•°

"Damnit, I whispered to myself as I failed my attempt to unlock the door that led into the medical building. "DAMNIT! CLEO!" My foot pounded against the metal door in frustration. I ran my fingers through my hair before tightly gripping onto it. It wasn't until a few seconds later when my legs gave out, causing me to drop down to my knees. "Cleo..." my stumbling words turned into a desperate cry.

"Cleo?" A voice asked. I turned towards the sound to see a woman step out of the shadows of the night. "Y-you're looking for Cleo?"

"Do you know where she is?!" I asked, quickly taking a step towards her.

"Yes," she answered. "Are you her father?" I gave a nod and she spoke once again. "I'm Melody. I'm one of the doctors that was supposed to be doing her operation...but I got kicked out for protesting against killing your daughter."

"So she's alive?!"

Melody paused, breaking eye contact with me to look at the ground. "They've already started so I...I don't know."

"We need to get in there somehow," I stated, pointing at the locked door. "You would have a key, right?" She shook her head no, ashamed that she couldn't help in that moment. "Okay..." I began, trying to think of an idea. "...you need to create a huge distraction outside, so when they come running out, I can slip in."

"Okay, but you're gonna want me to be in there to help...it's really bad." Her words struck fear inside me, part of me not wanting to know what they did to hurt my daughter. "I'll go figure out a distraction."

With that, she ran off, leaving me alone at the door to the small building. I pressed my back to the brick wall so that I was to the right of it. From the way I was positioned, when the doctors came running out and when the door opened outwards, I would be hidden.

Minutes ticked by slowly, making me more anxious after each second until there was a loud scream coming from where the tents were set up.

"HELP! I NEED HELP, PLEASE!" A voice screamed, most likely Melody. It only took a few seconds for the doctors to all come rushing out of the small building.

Once they were all gone, I caught the door and slipped inside. I peeked in each empty room as I walked down to hallway, looking for Cleo.

"Cleo..." I whispered when I finally saw her strapped down to a metal table, blood soaking her clothes and puddled both on the table and underneath.

Unable to move, I looked in shock before managing to stumble over to her. There was a long gash all the way up her right arm, the source of all the bleeding. Surrounding it were multiple sharp tools which were also covered in blood.
