°•°Steven's POV°•°
It was 3:45 am when we finally were admitted into a hospital room. Relief filled me at the sound of our name being called over the loudspeaker, for Caiden would finally be able to see a doctor.
Although it took another hour after we got a room for a doctor to come to look at CJ, I was grateful that we were out of the crowded waiting room.
I watched Lauren whisper soothing words into Caidens ear as they both laid in the hospital bed together, Lauren fighting to not fall asleep. And then there was Emmie who had fallen asleep in one of the plastic chairs two minutes after we got in the room.
There were two quick knocks at the door before the doctor came back in with his clipboard. "I've got some good news for you," he said with a small smile.
Lauren and I stayed quiet, anxiously waiting for him to tell us what was wrong with Caiden. "It's just a flu," he informed us. "It seems that tons of children have been getting it lately, which is most likely why this pace is so crowded. We are guessing is because of their weaker immune systems."
"So...what should we do about it?" Lauren asked.
"Well, we will have the nurse give you a medication for now until we can get some more prescribed," the doctor scribbled something down quickly on a sheet of paper and handed it to Lauren. "Here's what the medication is called, but overall I think your son will be fine."
For the first time in twenty four hours, I felt relief. Relief for Caiden, relief for all of us.

"You feeling better?" Lauren asked Caiden who was lying on the couch, watching TV.
"Yeah," he replied, smiling at Lauren slightly as she have him a sip of water.
It had been almost a week since we went to the hospital. As soon as CJ began to take the medicine, he immediately began to feel better.
"Maybe we should go out to eat tonight? Get CJ out of the house?" I suggested.
Caiden sat up, looking at Lauren. "Can we, mom? Please, I feel better." He laced his fingers together, begging Lauren with his cute, excited smile.
"Alright, fine," Lauren agreed, stroking his hair gently. "Where would you like to go?"
"Pizza!" Emmie yelled out from upstairs, her footsteps quickly pounding down the stairs before appearing in the living room. "Can we get pizza?!"
I chuckled at her. "Sure."
"Well if we're going to go, we should go now," Lauren said, standing up from the couch, putting her hands loosely on her hips. "You guys ready?"
"Yep!" Emmie said happily, going to put her shoes on, everyone else following her. I handed everyone their jackets before putting on my own, going out into the garage after to get into the car.

"Can I have another piece?" Emmie asked, reaching out across the table to grab another slice of pizza
The smell for fresh pizza filled the restaurant, making me want a more to eat even though I was stuffed. "Don't eat too much, Em," I said.
Lauren let out a chuckle. "Yeah, the last time you ate too much pizza, you threw it all up later."
"When was-" Caiden was then quickly cut off by a loud crash from outside. The restaurant went quiet, everyone turning their heads to look out the window.
"What the..." I whispered, standing up to go over to the large window. I couldn't see anything, for my view was blocked by a small building. Then, suddenly the ground shook with another loud crash.
The continuous cries and yells of people in the restaurant filled my ears. The people kept yelling things like, "What's going on?! What's happening?! What was that?!"
"Alright everyone!" A man's voice called out as he stood up on the ordering counter, making me realize that it was the manager. "I assure you that everything is fine. There's just some trouble on the streets, so I suggest that you all make your way home as soon as possible."
I quickly went back to our table. "Come on, we're gonna go home now."
They all nodded and the four of us made our way out of the restaurant. As soon as we went around the building that was blocking my view before, we all skidded to a stop.
There were people everywhere, yelling out and standing on top of cars. There were trash cans rolling down the street while on fire, even a few cars were on fire.
"Steven?!" Lauren asked frantically, holding Emmie and Caiden close.
"Who are they yelling at?" Emmie asked, referring to all of the screaming people who were breaking things and setting stuff on fire.
I didn't answer either if them, continuing to stare at the scene in front of me. Police were trying to take control of the situation by handcuffing people and shoving them into their police cars, but it wasn't controlling the large crowd.
It was a riot.
It was chaos.
It was then when I saw even more people on the roofs of the buildings beginning to throw unknown objects down onto the streets, some of them on fire.
"Come on, we need to go," I said loudly over all the yelling. "We're going to have to go through that, so stay close to me, and we'll go find the car!"
Lauren and Emmie clinged onto my arms while Caiden held onto Lauren as we started to rush through the crowds of angry people.
We were about halfway through when suddenly I felt my left arm being jerked as Emmie let go of my arm, making me quickly turn around to see a man who was holding tightly onto Emmie, wrapping his hands around her neck and arms.
"Dad!" She screamed. "Daddy!"
"Lauren stay back!" I yelled out to Lauren who held onto Caiden.
I ran over to the man gripping onto Emmie and quickly punched him right in the face. "Let her go!" I growled and punched him again, over and over again before grabbing onto Emmie and pulling her away from the man.
"Daddy!" Emmie cried and I picked her up, rushing back over to Lauren.
"Come on!"
Lauren grabbed onto my hand as she held Caiden on her hip with the other. We eventually made it through the streets and went to where the car was parked.
"Where's the car?!" Lauren asked, looking at where our car should've been parked. "Why isn't it here?! Who could've taken it?!"
I couldn't answer, I couldn't move.
What the hell is going on?!
