Maya's POV

Riley's been a mess. She hasn't eaten in 4 days and all she does is cry. And I'm getting sick of it.

"Riles you got to eat," I say in the sweetest way I can.

"No." She says under her sheets.

"Riley."

"Maya."

"RILEY!"

"MAYA!"

"Riley for God's sake, can you eat something? A damn apple?"

"Maya I am not hungry."

"Riley it's been almost a week since the incident with Lucas-"

"Don't mention his name," she sniffles.

"Riles, come on please eat."

"Look Maya I'm not hungry. I don't need food I don't need anything. I want Lucas back."

"Why Lucas?"

"Huh?"

"Why not someone else?"

"I don't want anyone else."

"What about him?"

I pull out a picture of my friend Ian from psychology class.

"Wow..."

"What?"

"He's cute..." She reaches over for the apple. Finally!

"Soo?"

"He still isn't Lucas..."

"Aww come on give him a chance."

"I don't know Maya."

"Come on Riles. You have to get over Ranger Rick some way and I think dating someone else will help."

"Hmmmmm..." she takes a bite out of the apple.

"I thought you weren't hungry."

"Shut up and okay fine."

"Seriously?"

"Yeah."

I immediately unlock my phone and text Ian.

*Dude what if I told you I got you a date? *

*Wdym? *

*My friend Riley is single and she's looking to date someone *

*Is she cute? *

I look over to Riley and she's a mess physically.

*Hell yeah man. *

*Okay, give me her digits. *

I send Ian Riley's phone number and a few seconds later we both hear a ding.

"It's Ian," she says with a slight smile.

"Hey Riles I have a to go study for a bit. See you in an hour or so?"

"Yeah sure."

She was so entertained with Ian that she didn't notice I said study. Maya Hart, studying what legend is this? In reality, I'm going to go get coffee and something to eat. I'm starving.

"I'm happy Riley is getting over Lucas," I say as I walk over to the counter.

"Hi I'd like a vanilla bean latte with two shots of mocha," I say while looking at my phone.

"Is that all?" the cashier says in an annoyed voice.

"Oh. Look buddy I don't know who you are but-," I look up from my phone. Cute boy.

"If you have something to say, say it now."

"Hi I'm Maya."

"I'm Josh."

Damn boo. Did God himself form you?

"The total is $4.75."

"Huh?"

"Maya, the total is $4.75."

"Alright." I hand him the money.

"If you don't mind, I'd like you to stop staring at me please."

"Huh, oh," I say as I turn a bright red.

"Look you seem cute, here's my number," he says as he hands me a slip with his number.

"Oh okay."

"Call me sometime."

"I don't know. I may catch something."

"You'll never know unless you try."

"Huh?"

"That made no sense didn't it?"

"No."

"So long for me trying to be flirty. Anyways see ya later, Maya."

"Bye Josh."

Oh I got a cute boy's number. I might just go tell Riley. I walk back to our dorm and when I walk in she's up, taken a shower, and is putting on eyeliner.

"Oh."

"Hey Maya. Ian and I are going on a date."

"I see you two hit it off."

"Yeah," she says as she slightly smiles.

"Oh well look at us. Dating and stuff."

"What?"

"I got a boy's number."

"You got a boy's number?" she asks excited.

"I got a boy's number," I say excited.

We begin to jump up and down like teenagers but in a few seconds we stop and clear our throats. She goes back to doing her eyeliner.

"So what's his name?"

"Josh."

"Haha You remember when you had a thing for my Uncle Josh?"

"Ha Yeah..."

"You have a thing for Joshes I see."

I begin to laugh. "Get back to getting ready for your date."

"Yes, Ma'am!"

"P.S Riley?"

"Yeah?"

"I like Peppy Riley more than Depressed Riley..."

"Yeah me too."

And with that I lay on my bed, happy because my best friend is happy and I begin to text Josh.
