CHAPTER SEVEN - WE MEET AGAIN

Resting on the sofa, I was suddenly startled awake with the sound of the door bell.   Michael had keys, so I knew he wouldn’t be ringing.  Closing my robe securely around me, I walked to the door, pulling it open without looking thru the peephole.   Instantly realizing that it been a mistake.

“You.” I gasped, instinctively trying to close the door again as I recognized the man before me.

“Me.” he stated, putting his leg on the door and keeping me from closing it.  “We meet again.”

“What the hell are you doing here?  How did you know where to find me?” I asked, pulling away from the door as he opened it.

Erick’s POV

After a sleepless night and a day full of council meetings, the last thing I had expected was to have the welcoming she was giving me.  She was really not happy to see.  Which truly puzzled me, since I hadn’t been unable to keep her out of my mind since the moment my eyes had met her.

“What happened?” I asked concern, noticing her bruised faced.

“I fell.” she stated, moving away from me and entering her living room.  “Who are you?  What do you want with me?”

“You know who I am.” I said following her every move, hoping to corner her into a wall.  “And that did not come from a fall.” I added, knowing that my eyes were giving away the anger that I really felt.  “Where is that son of a bitch?” I asked moving away from her and scanning the area for Michael.

“He’s not home.  He wont be back tonight.” Surprised, I heard her protecting that SOB.

What kind of person was him that he would do such a thing?  How could he destroy a person with his bare hands?

“You’re lying.  Your heartbeat tells me other wise.  I cannot let you stay here with that monster.”

    “What?” she asked surprised.

“You can’t stay here.  You’re coming with me.” I ordered pulling her by the arm only to have her pull away, her face in pain.

“Exchange one monster for another?  I prefer to stay with the one I already know.” she stated defiantly.

Grabbing her, I pulled the sleeves of the robe up her hands, to reveal a whole series of scars.

For a while, I just stared at her.  “Armand control her.  Make her get in the car.” I ordered, the anger in me burning in my veins.

“Erick.  We have company.” Armand stated suddenly, coming to stand beside Melanie.

Melanie afraid as to what Michael might do to her if he found two strangers in his house quickly kneeled down before me.  “I beg you.  You gotta go.  Please.  I’ll do anything you want.  Please.  He’ll kill me if he finds you here.”

“No he won’t.” I stated with venom as I pulled her to stand before me.

And that was exactly how Michael found us.   Melanie dressed in a robe, her hands on my own.

“What the hell is going on?” Michael growled, looking from one man to the other.

“Michael.” Melanie said pulling away from my grip and running to him.  “Listen to me.”

Without a second look at her, I watched him swing his hand around, landing on her chest.  The blow making her stagger backwards until she hit a wall.

Blinded by anger, and the need to protect my mate, I made my way to where Michael, only to have Armand hold me just before I hit him.

“NOO” I heard Melanie yell as she pulled way from the wall and came running at us.

    “Stay back.” I yelled.

“Don’t hurt him!” she yelled trying to pull Michael away from me.

“Get away.” Michael ordered in a deadly voice, just before throwing her against the sofa.

At this, I  broke free from Armand’s grip and had Michael by the neck, raised against a wall.   “You son of a bitch.” I said hitting him against the wall.

Tears were running down Melanie’s face as she went to Armand.  “You gotta stop this.”

“He brought this on himself.” Armand said not taking his eyes off me and Michael.

Thank goodness my friend knew me well enough to know when to keep his distance.  I wanted to tore to pieces this piece of shit.

Michael then placed both his hands on mines, clearly trying to pull me off him.  But only to have my grip tightened around him.

As I tried to get into Michaels mind I began to feel something making contact with my back.  Turning towards the direction of the blows I was shocked to find that Melanie hitting me, ordering me to let go of Michael.

“I thought I told you to control her.” I hissed at Armand, using one hand to grab her arm to keep her from hitting me, the other still around Michaels throat.

Armand instantly came to stand beside me, taking my hand from Melanie’s.   “Now listen here.  You could either make this easy on yourself or hard.  Decide.” he told her firmly.

Taking a deep breath, I watched her willing to obey Armand.  Nodding a yes to Armand before turning to face me.  “If you kill him, you might as well have killed us both.” she stated heading towards a door.  Armand following her closely.

Looking after Melanie, I was honestly surprised at the threat in her words.  A smile curving my lips as I couldn’t have chosen a better mate for myself.  She might be a scared little mouse, but that didn’t keep her from standing her ground.

Letting go of Michaels throat, I watched him fall into the ground.  Grabbing his neck as he struggled to breath.

“Next time you place a hand on her…”

“She’s mine.” Michael stated possessively, managing to stand.

“Not anymore.” I stated getting into his thoughts, pulling him off the floor and sinking my teeth into him…
