CHAPTER TWENTY SIX - A SECRET TOLD

“We are here.” Michael stated, jumping out of his seat and rounding the car to get the door for me.

“Thank you.” I stated, letting him help me out.

Ever since regaining consciousness, I was surprise to see the change in Michael.  He’d been nothing but nice and caring to me.  Looking up at him as we walked together into our house, I wonder how long it would last this time.

Erick’s POV

Entering the conference room, which today would be used as a courtroom, I tried my very best to keep my expression blank as everyone one there turned to face me.  Without a word, I went to take my place. Sitting down beside Dagan.

Dagan was an enforcer, one of the highest ranked in this side of the world.  He hadn’t been ascended to Council Member yet, because lately, the elders were doubting his ability not to turn rogue.   I, on the other hand placed my trust completely on him.  I knew no one could be as fare as him.

“We may begin.” Armand stated, moving away from a door.

At his words, two enforcers entered, dragging Annabelle into the room.

Dropped to the ground before us, I watched her struggle into a sitting position.  Her hands and feet tied with chains.

“Do you know what you’re being accused of?” Dagan asked her concerned.

“NO.” Annabelle stated staring at me with hatred.

“You are being accused of kidnapping and feeding of a mortal.”

“OH that.  Yeah.” she said not once taking her eyes of me, blowing a bubble with her gum.

“Do you know what our laws state about feeding of a mortal?”

    “Yes.  Death.” Annabelle answered.

“Do you not care what happens to you?” I asked standing from my chair, looking down at her.  Angry at her lack of respect.

“Oh my, you almost sound like you care.”

“Damn it Annabelle.  This is serious.” I yelled in frustration.

No matter how much I hated what she did to Melanie, I had to think of all immortals before me.  We were low in numbers.  We needed immortals.

“Don’t you think I know?” Annabelle yelled back.

“Erick here tells me you were murdered a long time ago.” Dagan stated, ordering me to sit back down.

    “He was mistaken.”

    “Explain.” Dagan ordered, curiously.

    “Zack Belask turned me.”

“Dr. Zachariah Belask?” Dagan asked uncertain.

“Yes.  He has always been an incredible scientist.  Don’t you think so Erick?”

“What the hell is that suppose to mean?” I asked unable to stop myself.

“Well wasn’t you who volunteered me for the experiment?”

“Experiment?  What the hell are you talking about?” I asked, my blood boiling.

    “You know.”

    “No. I don’t know.”

“You told him to use me as a lab rat for his serum.  You knew he was searching for new ways to reproduce the Nanos.”

    “I did n…”

“Don’t lie.  I know the truth.  But don’t worry, Zack has perfected the serum so Melanie wont feel a thing.” Annabelle stated smiling wickedly.  “Upss, I wasn‘t suppose to say that.”

“What do you mean Melanie wont feel a thing?” I asked standing from my chair and coming to stand before her.

“You heard me.  By now he must have her under his custody.”

Ignoring the people calling my name I left the conference room.  I needed to see with my own eyes that Melanie was okay.
