HAPTER SIXTEEN - DINNER
Taking Armands advice seriously, I asked Melanie for dinner the next day. To my surprise, she was more than willing to join me…
Sitting in my car, waiting for Melanie to join me, I could actually feel the butterflies in my stomach. It had been so long that I’d felt this way, that the feeling itself was frightening me.
Finally spotting Armand coming towards the car, followed by a beautiful woman, dressed in a red short dress, I found myself completely in a loss of word.
Like the total gentleman that Armand was, he walked her to the car, opened the door, and let her get in, before putting her seatbelt on.
Against my will, I snarled at Armand, who apparently didn’t register what his affections towards her were causing me.
Then saying our goodnights, I drove off. Exited to be alone with my mate…
“You look amazing.” I stated pulling the chair out for her.
“Thank you. You don‘t look too bad yourself.” she confessed, blushing.
“What will it be?” a red headed waitress asked, notepad in hand.
“Whatever he’s having.” Melanie stated, not once looking at her menu.
Recalling the things I had read in Michaels memories, I knew that she’d been forced to do whatever he wanted. Something as the simple act as ordering her food had been taken away from her.
“Melanie. Order whatever you want.” I stated sincerely, watching her become silent and still, completely surprised. Pointing at something on the menu, I only let the waiter see. Hoping that this way, she would have no other choice but to decided for herself.
For a while, me and the waitress waited for her decision. And just when we thought she wasn’t going to order anything, she turned to the waiter and asked for a chicken salad. The waiter writing it down before she left.
“From all that food and you chose the chicken salad.” I stated completely surprised.
“I’m sorry.” Melanie quickly said, raising a bit in her chair, searching for the waitress. “I could change it.” she added waving her hand to get the waiters attention.
Grabbing her hand I pulled her to me. “Melanie, I told you, you could have anything you wanted.”
“But…”
“I only thought that the chicken salad wouldn’t fill you.”
“But…”
“If its because of money, you don’t need to worry about it.” I said hoping to erase the tension in her eyes, while bringing a glass of water to my lips.
“I didn’t chose the salad because of the money, I chose it because I’m fat.”
At her confession I spilled the sip of water I’d taken. “What?” I asked loudly, making the people on the other table stare at us. “Sorry.” I apologized to them before turning back to her. “You are not fat. Who told you that?”
“Michael.” she whispered, her gaze to the floor.
Anger invaded me. I should had killed Michael. He had completely destroyed her.
“Your not fat. In any case you are too skinny.” I stated sincerely, pulling her chair closer to me, ignoring the angry stares that I received from the people around me. “You are the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.” I added, pulling her closer so that I could whisper to her ear. “You have the face of an angel, the body of a nymph.” I added caressing her ear with my lips before pulling away from her. Obviously making her tremble.
“Here you go.” the waiter said interrupting us, as she placed both our plates on the table.
Never in my life had I received such a quick service. Damn! Reluctantly I pulled away from her, as we began to eat…
“Did you enjoy the restaurant?” I asked Melanie, as soon as she came out of the bathroom, dressed in her pajamas.
“I did.” she stated honestly, sitting crossed leg in front of me on the bed.
“Are you ready for desert?” I asked, opening the box that held our deserts inside.
“I could still remember the waitress face when you told her to place one of each of the desert on a box.” she confessed, laughing, taking a peak into the box.
“Well it was your fault. You couldn’t decide which desert you wanted.” I added smiling at the beauty before me, handing her one of the glasses of wine I had placed on the night table.
“To new friends.” she stated raising her glass in a toast.
“To new friends.” I said raising my own and toasting with her.
“Can I ask you something?” she asked shyly.
“Sure. Go ahead.”
“Can I be without my chains tonight? They are really heavy.” she confessed looking at the ground.
Gently grabbing her chin, I made her face me. “Do you plan on escaping?”
“I have nowhere to go.”
At the sincerity in her eyes, I knew that the fact hurt her more than she would ever admit. “Then I will take them away permanently… if you promise not to leave this room unless you are escorted.”
“I promise.”
