CHAPTER NINE - ALONE

Waking up to find myself laying on the bed again, when this time I clearly remember falling asleep on the floor, I nervously began to search the room for Erick.

Thankfully he was nowhere in sight.

Hoping to take advantage of the fact that I was now alone in the room, I pushed the bed covers off me and stood from the bed.  In complete horror, I realized that somebody had taken the liberty to undressed me.  And not only that, but had dressed me in a long, silk night gown.   I never wore night gowns.

Leave it to me to have the worse luck ever.  Every single decision I had made throughout my entire lifetime, had always found a way to come back and bite me on the ass.  Had I not fixed this insane mans tooth I would most probably be at home with Michael.

Here I was, at twenty seven, an orthodontist caged and chained in a room.

Taking a deep breath to calm my nerves, I began to take a better look at the room I was in.  Thinking that maybe I could find a way out, I began to explore.   Hoping the chains were long enough that they would allow me to do so.

While searching, lost in thought, I was truly surprised when I found myself stepping out of the cage.  Realizing that Erick hadn’t lied when he said it was for my protection.  I could easily open the door, while the person on the other side could only open it with a key.  The cage was indeed meant to keep something from coming in and not from something to come out.  Interesting.

Looking around I was even more surprised to find a hidden door over by the bedside.  Curious as hell as to the secrets it might hold, I tried and tried until I managed to open the door.

Both shocked and amazed, I walked inside the room.  It was a library.  I huge library.  Thousands and thousands of books surrounded me as I slowly did a 360.  Smiling at the fact that there were books all around me, it gave me comfort to know that I would at least enjoy one of my greatest passions in life.

I was so involved in admiring the books, reading and exploring the tittles that I didn’t realize I was no longer alone.

“You just found my secret place.” Erick stated amused, staring at me as he leaned against a wall.

“This is amazing.” I stated turning again to look at the books.  “I always dreamed of owning something like this.”

    “Why didn’t you?”

“Michael believed that books were a waste of money… I love to read.  It relaxes me.”

“Me too.” he stated sincerely, walking to me.  “There are books here as old as a thousand years and as young as last week.”

    “Wow.”

“What are you interested in reading?” he asked, standing inches from me.

    “Anything.  Everything.  Art, religion, history…”

“I would had thought you to be a romantic.”

“Well of course.  What woman isn’t?  Is just that I’ve discovered that to many of those books would bring you to believe in fairytales.  The happily ever after.”

“And you don’t believe in that?”

“Life hasn’t given me many happily ever afters.”

“Life is ten percent what happens to you, 90 percent what you do with it.” Erick quoted, looking at me as if I were the most precious thing in the world.  “We have to make our happily ever after.”

Frozen in place, I watched as his lips slowly descended to mines.

From the first moment my eyes had seen him, I had found him intriguing, attractive.  In a trance I saw the desire burn in his eyes as his lips where now inches away from mines.

“We got visitors.” Armand stated, surprising us both.

Jumping away from him I turned to face Armand.  But Erick didn’t seem to mind being caught, he just smiled at me, pulling a curl behind my ear.

“I’ll be right out.” Erick stated, turning around, stretching and pulling out a book from the top shelf and handing it to me.

I stared after him in disbelieve.  He was completely different from Michael.  Had Michael and me been caught in a similar situation, he would had fired the person, on the spot.

“Maybe I can kiss you some other time?” Erick asked politely, not letting go of the book.

“Not on this life Dracula.” I stated smiling at him.
