CHAPTER  NINETEEN - NOT A DATE

Erick’s POV

Looking down into the face of the most beautiful being I had ever seen, I smiled to know that she was all mine.  All I needed to do now was convince her of that.

Taking my time I studied her features.  Memorizing every single detail about her.  Her smell, her skin, her lips.

With a rose I‘d picked from the garden, specifically for her, I began to gently trace her face with it.  Making my way from her forehead, down her nose and to her lips.

“Good morning sleep head.” I whispered to her ear as she began to stir.

“Good morning Dracula.” she said giving me a full blown smile.

Watching her stretch like a cat on my bed, I had to resist the urge of jumping her.  Thousands of different ways to help her stretch forming in my mind.

“You are beautiful.” I confessed, handing her the rose.

Surprised at my offering, Melanie gently took the rose from my hand and brought it to her nose, taking in the lovely smell.  Blushing as she found me staring intently at her.  “Thank you.”

“As lovely as that rose is, it doesn’t compare to your beauty.”

Smiling at me, she playfully hit me on the shoulder.  “Are you trying to butter me up for something?” she asked, making it clear that she was suspicious of me.

“Yeah.  I am.” I confessed laughing.  She didn’t have to be an immortal to read me.  “What do you say if we got out for a movie tonight?”

    “I don’t think so.”

    “Dinner?”

    “No.”

“Why? You have better plans?” I asked surprised she would turn me down so easily.  I know she had a good time when we went out for dinner.

“Well, actually, I do have plans.  Me, Janine and Timothy are going to the fair.”

“Oh really?” I asked a bit jealous.  How could she make plans and not include me?  I, on the other hand had her on my mind in every decision that I made.

“Yeah.  I wanted to ask you to tag along but Armand said you guys had a lot of work to do.  Something about the council meeting here, soon, to over see the turning of the new immortals.”

“That’s a couple of weeks away.” I stated wondering why the hell Armand had interfered.

    “You mean you could go?”

“Only if you ask me.” I said childishly.

“Wanna go to the fair?” she asked, as she were talking to a five year old.

“Are you asking me out on a date?” I asked teasingly.

    “No.” she quickly said.

“No?  Lets see.  You, Me, Food, somewhere other than here.  Yup, it does sound like a date to me.”

“Well if you’re going to fraise it like that.  It might as well be a double date.  We wont be alone.”

Melanie’s POV

“What do you mean you can’t come?” I asked Janine in complete horror.  If she and Tim didn’t come, I would be spending the whole night in Erick’s presence.  Not that I mind, which in reality was the problem.  I was beginning to like spending time with him.

“John, you know, Tim’s brother, well his wife just went into labor and Timothy wants to be there for him.  And I want to be there for Tim.”

“So you are just leaving me?”

“I’m sorry.  I really am.” Janine said honestly, looking at me with pity.  “Erick’s a great guy.”

    “I know.” I stated honestly.

“What’s going on?” Erick said walking up to us, taking out the keys of the car.

    “Janine and Timothy can’t come.”

“Really?” Erick asked, with a huge grin on his face.

“Hey, the least you could do is pretend to be saddened by the fact.” Janine said to Erick.

“Sorry.” Erick apologized, getting serious.  “I’m so sorry you guys can’t make it.  I know that whatever it is that‘s keeping you away is important.”

Laughing at Erick‘s tactics Janine walked away as Timothy pulled up on another car.

“So?  Are we still on?” Erick asked me concerned, opening the car door.

    “It’s not a date.”

“You, Me, food, ALONE, somewhere other than here, definitely sounds like a date to me.”
