Micah's Pov
We watched Laurie and her girlfriend Ginger approach us. Laurie looked like she was ready to kick some ass. I really didn't want to fight with Laurie. She didn't fight like a girl, she fought like a man.
"Hey Laurie, thanks for coming." Sean said trying his best to keep the mood light. Pausing Laurie frowned even more then looked to Ginger. She stood there with her hands on her hips glaring at us.
"Enough with the greetings. What's going on?" She said her voice hard. Oh this was starting off great.
"Laurie I can explain--" Sean started but was cut off my Laurie's hand.
"I don't want to hear from you. I want to hear what Micah has to say." I don't know what made me think Laurie go soft on me.
"I like Declan. I like him a lot and I wanted to get to know him but he's not in my immediate circle. So when Mrs. Zune put us together as partners I thought it was a blessing. A sign telling me that it was meant to be. After that first conversation with him I knew I wanted him. It's like when he comes near my body goes electric. I saying to Sean how much I liked him and so he came up with this plan for us to get some alone time--" Laughing Ginger shook her head at us.
"The tutor session." Nodding I felt myself blush under her gaze.
"I lied to Declan and said I needed help in Chemistry and he agreed to help me out. Everything was going fine until... I kissed him." I was waiting for a look or outburst of surprise but I got none from either girl. Declan must have told them the story already.
"I didn't just kiss him, I was literally eating him alive. I wanted him right then and there but Katlin showed up. And you know where Katlin goes, drama follows. By the time I got everything calmed down Declan was gone." I said blushing a bit. I wasn't use to talking about this in the open. Usually it's just me and my conscious.
"He said Katlin started acting even crazier than usual." Laurie giggled. Craizer is an understatement. She was off her rocker. I could tell she was on something. Her pupils were dilated and she was kind of skittish. When Mrs. Lieberman came over she was being all twitchy. Mrs. Lieberman went to place her hand on Katlin's shoulder and she just wigged out in the worse way possible.
"Yeah she was. She even attacked Mrs. Lieberman." I said. Looking to me Ginger stared me up and down as if she as sizing me up.
"What made you all of a sudden like him?" She asked her voice laced with suspicion. This is what I was dreading most.
"It wasn't all of a sudden... I've liked Declan for a long time." I said keeping my eyes to Ginger's. I could see Sean frowning at me.
"How long is a long time?" Laurie asked me. I let my eyes cut to Sean then back to Laurie.
"Since junior high." I whispered. From the look of surprise on her face she wasn't expecting me to say that.
"Wow." Ginger said. Stepping forward Sean pushed my shoulder.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He said hurt evident in his voice. How do you tell your best friend something like that. It was hard enough as it was keeping my sanity.
"I don't know Sean. I just didn't want to." I said not really meaning it. Laurie looked to Ginger who was still standing there staring at me.
"So what made you make a move now?" Laurie asked. Here was a question I knew the answer to. This was something I knew.
"Time."
"Time?" Ginger said parroting me. Nodding I went to lean back against Sean's truck.
"It's our senior year. We'll all be leaving going to college. We'll be leaving our old lives behind and I didn't want Declan to leave and find happiness with someone else because... I wanted him to find it with me. I've been scared that he'd never give me a chance." I said. Just like always Sean finished my sentence.
"Especially after that fiasco with Todd Declan's avoided him at all cost." Sean said his voice a little less hurt.
"What happened with Todd? I mean there had to be more to the story than he was watching you." Ginger asked curiosity sparkling in her eyes. Shaking his head Sean stepping in front of me as if he was trying to shield me.
"I don't think--" Sean started but I cut him off. Squeezing his shoulder I drew strength from him.
"It's okay Sean. I'll tell them." I said. Looking back at me Sean searched my face. I knew he didn't want to bring up these memories or the feelings attached to them but I needed to clean out my closet. I didn't want to hold on to these skeletons any longer.
