Micah’s POV:
I lay there trying to breath. My chest felt like it was going to cave in on me. I could feel my flesh burning from the sensation of the bullet. I couldn’t get over the fact Todd actually shot me. He actually pulled the fucking trigger.
“Breathe Micah.” I heard the Captain say as he and the other SWAT members rushed the cabin. Taking in a big breath I felt the pressure on my chest ease. Looking down at me Captain patted my shoulder.
“You did good. We got everything on tape.” He said helping me sit up. Reaching up I rubbed my head. Who would have thought such a little bitty pistol would knock me off my feet. Slowly I pulled my shirt up and ran my hand across my chest.
“MICAH!” I heard my dad yell. Turning I saw him running in, concern and fear written on his face. When he spotted me standing there with the Captain he let out a sigh of relief.
“You could have warned me this was gonna hurt.” I said wincing a bit as I peeled the bullet from my Kevlar vest. Pulling on a glove Captain held his hand out. Dropping the bullet into his hand I turned to my dad and gave him a hug.
“I didn’t think that nut job was actually going to pull the trigger.” He said pulling back giving me a once over. Looking back we watched the other SWAT members hogtie Todd. He struggled and fought against them screaming out at the top of his lungs.
“MICAH!! I LOVE YOU MICAH!! I JUST WANTED TO SHOW YOU HOW MUCH I LOVED YOU!!!” He sobbed as they carried him out. I felt the ache in my chest ease even more knowing Todd couldn’t hurt Declan again. Looking to my dad I watched him sign over the custody of Todd to the Police Department.
“Once they have him processed we can hit him with all his charges and start his trial. Until then we finish gathering our evidence and you don’t talk to any lawyer unless both Uncle Cecil and I are present, understand?” Nodding I followed my dad out into the dying sun light. I spotted Todd’s parents behind the yellow tape. They both glared at me as I passed them by.
“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO OUR BABY!! IF YOU’VE HURT ONE HAIR ON MY BABY’S HEAD I WILL PERSONALLY SEE TO IT THAT YOU NEVER SEE DAYLIGHT AGAIN!!” Mrs. Walters screamed out at me. I didn’t spare her a glance as my dad opened a car door for me. Climbing in I closed my eyes. If she wasn’t so clueless she would know her own son was a psychopath. I heard the door close behind me and my dad talking to the driver.
“Get him back to the hospital and I wanted a twenty-four guard put on Declan Crawford’s room. Only visitors he is to have are those approved by his parents. Any hospital personal will have to have their I.D. badges and they will have to sign in and out. No media what so ever, no fame seekers and no one from Todd Walter’s family are to have access to Declan at any time. Understand.” I opened my eyes to see the driver nodding his head. Looking back at me my dad smiled.
“I gotta stay and finish this. I’ll be back in a few hours. “Nodding I watched as he stepped back from the car and we started off. It was a quiet ride back to the hospital but I didn’t mind. It’s been so hectic the pass few hours I needed this quiet. Todd was finally taken care of. I didn’t have to worry about him hurting anyone I loved because he was behind bars. I felt a tiny smile tugging at the corner of my mouth.
“We’re here.” The driver said. Opening I eyes I couldn’t believe we’d gotten there so fast. I was about to reach for the handle when I spotted the hordes of people at the entrance of the hospital. Slamming on the brakes the driver threw the car in reverse. I watched through the window as the horde started running towards us.
