"Honey, we're going to be away next weekend," My dad told me as I reached for the bowl of cucumber.
"How long?" I asked, my parents ideas of being away could range from an hour at B&Q to four days in Spain.
"We're going Friday till Monday morning, your auntie Janice wats us to go down and we completely trust you, you do know that, right?" Dad asked me, his smile being a little to sheepish.
"Your leaving the house to me for four days?!" I sat up right with a toothy grin.
"No." Mum almost yelled, which made my dad roll his eyes behind his glasses. "No, you managed to rack us up a three hundred phone bill when we were in the house, what would happen if you were on your own?"
"That was centuries ago." I sighed. My dad and mum both shot me looks. "Okay, but I was only in year eight. Just turned thirteen, I was so young-"
"Yeah, young enough to cost your parents three hundred quid just a month before your birthday." Mum snorted.
"Are you still on that?" I sighed overly dramatically.
"Anyway, we're just saying: your either going to a friends or whatever." My dad said ending the topic as I went back to munching on my sliced cucumber, mum went back to flicking through her SHE magazine and dad focused his attention to the morning news.
"Is it true Zack and you had sex in the showers before lunch?" Anthony asked me which I returned with a skeptical look.
"No!" I hissed.
"What's that? ZACK COAL AND YOU?" Angus yelled the last part loudly which made me actually go under the table so when everyone looked at our table they wouldn't see me.
"Miss Riley?"
Oh dear. If that voice was who I thought it was from I would seriously be cutting of my own head tonight.
I poked my head out at the top of the desk to see Mr O'Miles looking highly amused and looking down at me with a raised eyebrow.
After crawling out of the desk, plopping myself on the chair in between Angus and Ben- my usual seat.
"May I ask why you were under the table?" Mr O'Miles chuckled.
"Yes Tina, why were you under the table?" Angus asked innocently except his eyes were laughing.
"Maybe Zack was there". Ben whispered to Angus, but of course I heard. Angus started laughing but I looked over at Ben and stuck out my tongue like the mature teenager I am.
Mr O'Miles made a small fake coughing sound which reminded me he was still there. "I, uh, dropped my, um, calculator."
Anthony and Ben both started to chuckle slightly, and I saw Mr O'Miles raise his eyebrow again.
"Where is your calculator then?"
"Uh..." I stuttered.
"Yeah, where is it Tina?" Michael asked innocently.
The bastards. They all knew I hadn't brought a calculator to school since year seven, yes I am lazy. Sue me.
"Er...Angus has it?" I tried. This made Mr O'Miles actually laugh at me whilst the rest of the table were chuckling.
"Yeah, I do." Angus smiled Mr O'Miles a toothy grin. We all looked at Mr O'Miles in a hint for him to leave us alone- but he didn't.
"How did Angus get it, if you were on the ground?" Mr O'Miles asked with a smirk.
"I put it in his bag?" I tried, Mr O'Miles opened his mouth but I continued "He needs to borrow it for his math test."
Now go away Mr O'Miles. I chanted in my mind.
