I have never been so tired in my life. I had to wake up at 5:30 in the morning just so I could get to the park on time. I groaned so loudly it wasn't even human. I rolled out of bed, staring at the dark room for who knows how long till I got up and turned on the lamp which made the room a dim gray. I got up and walked to my closet, too tired to even consider taking a shower. I pried open the closet door and grabbed the closest things I could. A thick pair of sweat pants and a hoodie, grabbing my beanie to cover the bed head I knew I had and applied my Vans on.
Once I was done, I grabbed my phone and made my way downstairs in the dark, too tired to brush my teeth or anything. I went into the kitchen and flipped on the light, seeing it was only 5:47 right now, I made me a pot of coffee and put it in one of our disposable cups and was out the door when it hit 5:54. I walked like a zombie in the snow, drinking and yawning the whole way to the park. Once there, it was 6:12 and Jax was sitting on a snow covered ledge, staring at the park bench below him and when I walked up his face lit up.
“Thought you wouldn't show.” He said, jumping off the ledge.
“I was debating.” I say, my voice sounding uninterested in the world.
“Good thing you didn't,” he said and walked over to me, snatching my coffee out of my hand.
“Hey!” I screamed as he took a big gulp of it. He turned and smirked.
“If you want it back, you gotta chase me!” He said and took off into the park. On instinct I took off after him, dodging stuff as I did. The icy cold of winter dawn hit my face, numbing my cheeks instantly as I jumped up and over a rock that was in my way. I ran until the street came into veiw.
I stopped and examined the road, seeing my breath coming out. “Come on, don't stop on me now!” Jax shouted. I glanced around until I spotted him, halfway up a ladder with my coffee still In hand. Everything drained from me.
How the fuck did he get all the way up there so fast with my coffee in hand? Like seriously?! And he's still climbing!
“Dude I'm not chasing you up there. My coffee isn't worth it.” I say.
I heard his chuckle. “Fine, what about your phone?” He asked.
“Psh! You don't have my phone, its in my-” before I said anymore, I searched my pocket, feeling the empty pockets. Glancing up I saw that my coffee was splattered to the ground and my phone was replacing it in his hand. “Oh fuck no!” I screamed and took off, ignoring a honk from an angry man who reminded me of a new yorker and jumped up onto the ladder.
I rushed after his, ignoring the cry of my coffee that had fallen on the ground. Yes I could physically hear the coffee. It's cries were crystal clear to me and sad to say, it made me want to sob.
"Dude! Just give me my phone back! How is this training?!" I shouted, still climbing behind him.
"It's training because you are chasing something you desperately love. Aka a phone. Now boot up and chase it!" He said and continued until he disappeared on the roof.
I followed until I was all the way up there and I pulled myself up. I saw Jax standing there, holding my phone out to me. I snatched it with a glare. He chuckled and waved me with his head as he bounced away towards the other side of the rooftop.
I followed hesitantly and made my way over only to see a beautiful sight. The city was lit up and and beautiful. The neighborhoods were all dark but the buildings were lit so beautifully it almost took my breath away.
I glanced over seeing Jax smiling at the city, leaning against an industrial metal fan. His eyes tensed on the city.
"The city really makes you think." I say.
