Tony
I fiddled with the screws on my repulsor, my mind almost too busy to concentrate on it. I dropped my screwdriver and looked up at Bruce, who was working with some random chemicals, as always, still trying to find a ‘cure’.
‘Do you think that she’ll be ok?’ I asked him. Sam had only been gone for a few hours, but I was worried. It was an odd feeling. I had only really associated it with Pepper, but I guess that this was what being in a relationship did. It made me a sap.
Bruce sighed, glancing at me, before turning back to his test tubes.
‘Tony, she survived without us for years. She’ll be fine.’ he told me calmly. I picked up my screwdriver and pointed it at him.
‘But that was before we dragged her back into this mess... again.’ I reasoned, and he sighed again, putting down his test tubes.
‘Honestly?’ he asked, taking off his glasses. I nodded, leaning forward on my elbows.
‘No. I don’t think that she’ll be ok. But, I don’t think that she should come back. I think that the best thing that we can do for her now, is to find and stop McAvoy before he gets to her again.’ he said firmly. I nodded in agreement.
‘So you don’t think he’s dead then?’ I asked. He shook his head firmly.
‘Not a chance.’ he said as he picked up his test tubes and put back on his glasses. I sighed.
‘Please stop with the ‘cure’ thing.’ I said, almost pleading.
Bruce looked at me over the rim of his glasses. I shrugged.
‘I like having a science bro who loses control and turns into a giant, green rage monster.’ I told him, tripping over my words slightly. Bruce raised an eyebrow at me, but dismissed my almost-show of emotion.
We worked away in silence for a while, before he spoke again.
‘How do you think it’s possible?’ he asked. I looked up at him, frowning.
‘How do I think what’s possible?’
He shrugged, looking around the lab. ‘Sam.’ he stated simply. I frowned and straightened up.
