Our Night On Valentine's Day

Problems

"Hey what's your problem with Elsa?" Hans asked, breaking the silence. He didn't ask like a total jerk, he just wanted to know.

The boys were in the teacher's lounge, still in detention for almost two hours after school. They really messed up this time. If The Detention Awards were a thing, they would win a lot of trophies.

"Nothing." Jack avoided his eyes, staring at the TV in front of him where the news was on.

"Spill it." Hans had his arms crossed, leaning comfortably into the couch, looking at Jack like he was about to lose his patience and punch the words out of his stomach.

"Nothing!" Jack shouted at him, finally looked at Hans. Rage and anxiety filling his eyes.

"Shhh!" Miss Skulnik was doing her works. Since the Principal had some other business, Miss Skulnik was left in charged. The boys couldn't leave until she was done with her work.

"You have a thing for her don't you?" Hans caught Jack red-handed. Jack was flattered but he didn't show. Instead, he just stayed silent and continued watching the game.

"Well, that makes two of us." Hans' words made Jack turned to him and wanted to slap him. He did.

"Ow!" Hans held his left cheek in pain. "What did I say?"

"First you tricked Anna into falling in love with you, then you tried to steal her parent's company and now you liked Elsa?" Jack almost shouted. He stood in front of him.

Hans chuckled for a moment and thought about it for a while. "Yeah you're right." He looked down to his shoes. He felt like he deserved a slap from Jack.

Jack was glad that Hans came back to his senses. But this was a different situation and also true. Where it could be a right thing to do, or a wrong thing to do.

"But you know, people change. That's one of the most miraculous thing that can happen in life. And at the same time, normal." Hans woke Jack up from his awaken sleep.

"I wanna be good." Hans finally said, twitching his lips as he stared at the marble floor.

"Well you can kiss that goodbye. You already got into detention." Jack sat down and looked back at the TV. He just wanted to pass all this.

"Did you know she had a record?" Hans changed the subject. He wanted to make sure that if Jack was going to date her, he'd get to know about her first.

"Really?" Jack was interested in this. He looked at Hans with eyes filled with surprise. He didn't know this. How come he didn't know this?

"Yeah, she made Anna have a heart attack. I don't know what she did. They wouldn't tell me." Hans paused before saying, "but it was bad. Like someone-could-die-bad."

"Yeah I know what a heart attack is." Jack looked down, trying to shut Hans' mouth. He wanted silence. To think. To register all this into his mind. Elsa - the girl he likes, the girl he wanted to date yet, he still didn't know a lot about.

"Yeah it happened before she met you and Hiccup and all. It happened back when Anna and I were still together." Hans chuckled like it was a beautiful memory but it wasn't. It was cruel, dark and disturbing. But Hans didn't mention all that. There was no reason he should.

Jack's silence was interrupted by Miss Skulnik who dismissed them both after she finally had her work done. "If you both got yourself into trouble again, you will be expelled," the woman warned. "Don't think I'm kidding."

"I'm sorry for what happened," Hans spoke after the teacher left. He looked at Jack with sympathy. Like his hope to be the good guy was crumpled into a piece of garbage and was thrown out into the Pacific ocean. "I shouldn't have punched you."

"Yeah me too." Jack meant it. They both stood up and was about to leave. "Let's just forget about it." Jack knew that Hans meant it when he said he wanted to be good.

"Hey, just give me a chance with Elsa will you? Let her decide." And with that Hans left.
