Two weeks later my cousin Ava came to stay with us. Her parents are going on vacation, I think a boat cruse or something. Anyway, she is staying here for a month since they didn't have anywhere else to drop her off. Her parents are paying us for her staying - quite a lot may I add - so I'm getting a raise in my allowance, or should I say, I'm getting an allowance. The last time I saw Ava was 5 years ago at one of our family's get together's. We both were 11 and got along very well. The whole family was at my grandmother's. It was an eventful day. My uncle proposed and later than evening, he fell in the swimming pool. When it got dark out, we made a bonfire and sang songs while roasting march mellows. I miss those times.
Ava's parents just dropped her off Friday night and she seemed very excited to see me, "ALEX!" she screamed and jumped out of the car, running towards me. "AVA!?" I scream back at her. She hugs me tight around the neck. I hugged her back and I officially crown her the queen of hugs. She is a little bit shorter than me and she has dark brown hair with purple highlights tied up in a high pony tail. She is very endearing and amiable but I think she's just glad to take a break from her parents. They aren't very caring. She is dressed in denim short, sandals and a 5SOS t-shirt. I love her already.
I invited her in a showed her where she would be staying. We're sharing my room. I made her up a bed and cleared some drawers for her things. We started talking about, well, everything. "I think my parents are planning on moving here and this is an experiment to see if I like it" she says. I just love her voice, it makes me happy. Is that wrong to say? I don't know. Anyway, Ava lives about 2 hours away from here and she is coming to school with me every day. If her parents really are planning on moving here, my brother and I are most likely going to move in with them. Our parents' money isn't ganna last forever.
Ava has the same music taste as Johnnie and that's what brought us to the topic. I told her everything about Johnnie and what happened with Michael and my brother. "He sounds fascinating, I can't wait to meet him" she says eagerly. She sees my band shirt hanging over the chair, "No way, I've been looking for a My Chem shirt like everywhere! Where did you get it?" she wanted to know. "Well, that's the shirt Johnnie gave me" I say feeling a little proud. "I like this Johnnie guy already" she says and throws herself on her bed. I laughed.
"Alex, I'm going out" I hear my brother shout from downstairs. He's going to get drunk again and repeat his nonsensical drunk routine that I am involved with. "Okay!" I shout and push my face in my pillow. My brother is still enraged about the whole Johnnie thing. "We got the place to ourselves, what do you wanna do?" Ava asks. "To be honest, I just wanna go to sleep and not be awake when my brother gets home" I say, still with my face in the pillow. "Okay fine, but can I at least watch a movie?" she begs. I gave her a selection that exited out of If I Stay, Mean Girls, Divergent and The Great Gatsby. She watched whatever she picked downstairs. I put in my earphones and listened to The Script.
I don't know when I drifted off but I was awakened by the sound of breaking glass followed with a scream. I went downstairs and found my brother passed out on the kitchen floor and a bat lying next to him. The glass from the wine cubit was broken and the entire floor was covered in glass and... blood? I didn't see Ava. "Ava?! Where are you?" I called. I saw a blood trial, followed it and found her in the bathroom, in the bathtub and blood everywhere.
