CHAPTER TWO
February 2173
Trachus / Varso / Tranchilite
...Trachus...
Sergeant Aopiloride marched towards the two soldiers waiting near the trees. The satellite station was a hundred meters behind him now. To his right the infiltration team leader, Sergeant Tmindorphille, let out a shocked moan.
The scene before them was terrible. A pit, that looked about twenty feet deep, had been dug and filled with bodies. There must have been at least thirty dead Tranchillions in there. Sergeant Tmindorphille placed one of his free hands over his mouth and stared.
"Have they still got their identity tags Private?" asked Sergeant Aopiloride.
The Private climbed back into the pit and opened the front of the nearest Tranchillion's uniform. He searched around inside and found his identity tag before looking up, "Yes sir."
Sergeant Aopiloride turned to the ill-looking infiltration team leader, "At least we'll be able to identify them easily. Are you alright Sergeant?"
Sergeant Tmindorphille looked away from the pit, "How could they?"
Asop remained silent - letting Tamir recover.
"Dowdneer's got a lot to answer for," Tamir started to regain some colour as the shock wore off.
"If it is his doing the sentence won't be any different to what he's already facing. I still can't believe he escaped."
Tamir pressed his comlink, "Captain Xenorphide - come in sir."
'Yes Sergeant.'
"Sir - we've found a mass grave."
'Say again.'
"A pit, roughly twenty feet deep, has been dug and filled with bodies."
'How many?'
"It's hard to tell sir. Hundreds maybe."
'Are there any survivors Sergeant?'
"None so far Captain. But we've only searched the satellite station and surrounding area."
'Okay. Continue your search and report back when you have something. You are cleared to engage any hostility shown towards you. There may still be some loyal civilians down there so only return fire - is that clear'
"Will do sir - out," Tamir turned back to Asop. "The Captain wants us to continue the search. We are weapons free but only to return fire."
"Right. On top the habitat," Asop raised his voice. "Back to the AV's. Move out."

...Varso...
Ast' Arobe (the Varsoomian leader) floated towards Sal' Skit (the Varsoomian/Watcher that trained Rebecca Chambers to become a 'Paladin Knight'). He stopped next to him and spoke in their musical tone, "Have you found out what he did?"
Sal' Skit didn't need to look round to know who was beside him. He had already felt his leaders approach, "I am still not sure. I have ordered Ans' Arum to go through the security footage and the security logs of the Space Control room. I feel that the answer will come from there."
"And your reason for being here is?"
"I am trying to make sense of the data coming back from the micro-bots. He has definitely done something to them. I just do not know what yet."
