                                                                    ~ Chapter Two ~

"Love your enemies. It makes them so damned mad." ~ P.D. East

                                                                        Age: Fifteen

Have you ever just wanted to strangle a person so bad you've had to force your hands under your legs and bite your lip to where you could taste blood? No? I have.

I watched as Aiden high fived his friends, Logan and Tyler, as they laughed like hyenas. My eyes were burning with anger as I plucked out the spit balls they'd spent the entire class period making, out of my hair. My nose scrunched up is disgust as I counted how many total had taken residence in my strawberry blonde locks. Twenty-Two.

"Love the new look Abbey, who's your hair stylist?" Aiden said, sucking in his bottom lip to hold in laughter. The rest of the class wasn't that gracious. Cackles filled the room, people bending over with laughter. If looks could kill, Aiden would be six feet under... Make that seven feet, I'm so mad right now I could stomp him down another twelve inches.

I plucked the last spit ball out, as my friend Lily spoke up, turning around in her seat and sending them a glare. "Leave Abbey alone." I closed my eyes briefly and flinched. Lily... Aiden, Logan and Tyler looked at her as if she had sprouted another head. My eyes stayed on them, but I spoke under my breath, "Lily... don't." Of course she paid me as much of attention as people were giving our math teacher right now. My eyes traveled around the room to see that everyone was watching with wide eyes, waiting to see what would happen next. I'm sad to report that even Mr. Faney looked to be on the edge of his seat with anticipation. And the Teacher of the Year award goes to...

Aiden, always being the calm and collected one, smirked at Lily while Tyler and Logan sent daggers flying her way. "And who's going to make me? You?" Aiden paused and chuckled, "that's laughable." Lily smirked right back at him, not backing down from his judging eyes. "Oh not me, no. But wouldn't it be a shame if Coach Sanders found out about you bullying a fellow classmate? You know how sensitive he gets about bullying, especially since his own daughter was bullied last year." Lily paused and put her finger under her chin, faking like she was seriously thinking about it. Her eyes twinkled as she began once more, "I mean, I imagine he'd be mad enough to not let you play football for the rest of the year." Gasps filled the room and I looked fearfully back and forth between Lily and Aiden. She didn't. Everyone knew football was Aiden's life, and to mess with it? Oh gezz...

Everyone turned to Aiden, waiting to see what his comeback was going to be. My eyes zeroed in on his clinched jaw, a gesture I'm sure no one else noticed but me. Aiden smirked, but I could tell it was forced, before replying. "I'd watch my back if I was you, Flinn." He sent Lily a wink, which caused me to shiver at the promise behind it, and rose as the bell rang.

Tyler and Logan sent us both glares and followed behind Aiden as he left without another word. Lily and I just set in our seats as people left the room muttering and smiling from ear to ear at the action we caused in math class. Finally after everyone had long gone, Lily spoke. "That, was..." I flinched and looked at her, "I'm so sorry Lily! Now he's going to be after you because you stood up for me! Oh dear Lord, you want to just switch schools? I'll go with you, hell you know how long I've been wanting to." I stopped my blabbering and looked over at Lily, staring blankly at the floor with a small smile on her face.

"Lil? I'm so sorr-." "Awesome!" I blinked my eyes and looked at her dumbly, "What?" She turned around and grinned at me, "I, Lily Flinn, made Aiden speechless." I set back away from her a bit and sent her a small, hesitant smile. "Lil. He wasn't speechless. Didn't you hear him practically threaten you before he left?" Lily waved her hands at me and grinned. "Details, details. Either way, he didn't comment back. He left. Ha!" She giggled quietly before picking up her stuff and standing up, looking down at me. "Coming? We're going to be late."
