Chapter 25
The dust and debris took a moment to clear and in the interim the crowd of Troops, Sages, Spectators, and those Opposed to the Sages were stunned into silence. Rinko was still standing with his leg in the air indicating to everyone that he was the culprit behind the sudden attack. Turk jostled himself out of the crater. Coughing as he hit the floor. Blood splattered on the ground in succession with the coughing. Coming to his senses once again he whipped the blood from his mouth.
"How dare, You!" Turk coughed and spit more blood out of his mouth.
"Oh I do dare. Especially against a person of you caliber." The disgust in Rinko's voice could be felt clearly by everyone within an ear shot of what he was saying.
Ruby and Opul were still taking a knee because the pressure Rinko was producing hadn't subsided. The Sages however, were pressed against the rocky wall of the Catori Mountains. They were huddled so close together that one couldn't distinguish between one from the other.
Rinko released much of the aura around himself. Causing the pressure in the area to subside greatly. Finally he brought his foot back down to the ground. "We could've ended the whole situation peacefully if you would've complied to our terms. Why are you being so stubborn?" The question had a hint of concern lased within it.
"Why wouldn't I be? I have had the pleasure of being apart the power system of this village for many years. Why is it so hard to fathom? Is it so wrong for a person secure their position as ruler?" Turk's voice was pleading and strained.
"In your case. Yes, it is completely wrong for a person of your standings to assume that you have the right to grip the reins of power." A harsh tone resounded within his voice. Rinko was looking down upon the figure of Turk whom had yet to fully recover from the kick he received moments before.
"I won't let things end like this." Turk reached into his cloak and pulled out a strange cube.
He placed the device on the floor and it began to flicker and blink as it changed colors becoming brighter. At first Rinko didn't think much of the device and assumed that it was a escape route and last resort for Turk. However, that wasn't the purpose of the device at all. Three beams of black light shot out of the cube. Much like a laser or a sun beam shinning through a crack in a wall.
"What the hell is that supposed to do?" Rinko asked slightly amused.
"You'll find out. Just give it a minute." Turk said this with an eerie smile on his face.
Moments later, three blood churning screams could be heard coming from the direction of the Catori Mountains. Everyone turned their attention to the direction of the commotion. Gasps erupted from the mouths of the many spectators and troops that gathered. The horror that they were witnessing was occurring to the three remaining Sages.
Each beam of black light pierced the chest of one of the remaining Sages. Upon reaching their intended targets the beams of black light changed color. Each matching the color of the gift each Sage received. Quig had a yellow beam flowing from his body, Thristlien's was pure white, and Mythis had a violet one extending from his body,
Bolta and Subeo arrived with their troops to the far left of the clearing. At the same time the commotion Turk was now causing began. The expressions on their faces spoke volumes about what they were thinking about this situation,
"What the HELL?!? We heard people screaming in agony. What's going on?" Bolta exclaimed as him and Subeo ran to be next to Ruby and Opul.
By this time Mar had also joined the lead group of six opposing fighters that were the main force behind the coup. Rinko was still standing in the same place he had when he launched a devastating round house kick to Turk's head.
