Chapter 20
Rinko was sitting in his office. Letting his mind wonder as he contemplated the situation in Crim Tälias. Currently as it stands there is a great deal of confusing running wild throughout the village. The Magister Sages are in disarray with a few key members that have recently been attacked and killed. The room was dark save for a single burning candle stationed at the end of his desk. Illuminating the room with a subdued orange flickering glow. A couple of books and a few pieces of parchment scattered about his desk were among the few things that were visible with the lack of sufficient light. All of which he was doing a good job of dutifully ignoring.
Except for the top most paper. It was sealed with red wax that had the Crim Tälian seal pissed into it a side profile of his mothers face. Looking at the scroll gave him an uneasy feeling. As if the parchment itself was giving him a personal warning.
Sighing deeply and giving himself a minute to clear his mind of any thoughts our concerns he was carrying in regard to the village. Rinko reached over a grabbed the sealed scroll and broke the wax insignia.
Taking a moment to read the parchment all the while his brow was heavily furrowed. Showing the vertical crease in the middle of his forehead. Renkotsou linked with Rinko's mind."Why such a hard look?" Questioning his demeanor more than his actual facial expression. "The visions of your thoughts are rushed and agitated."
"This is frustrating!" Sighing as he answered Renkotsou in his mind.
"From a stand point of one that has been watching over you for many years. I know that you will do what must be done." Trying to sound reassuring.
A sigh of exasperation again escaped Rinko's lips. "I need to figure out the best way to protect my mothers village. This cannot be delayed much longer. The people of Crim Tälias have a right to know what is going on and how we are going to rectify the situation. So they can contribute in taking counter measure as the need arises."
"Then we already have a general idea of what is needed." Renkõtsou pointed out.
"There is truth to what you say."
"Of course there is. Now get to it." Reseeding his consciousness back so their connecting is less prominent, but Rinko could still feel his partner in the recesses of his mind. The thought of the bond they shared made him smile inwardly.
Rap rap rap went the door. Opul entered the office moments later.
"Sorry for the intuition."
"Not at all." He smiled as his eyes fixed themselves onto his guest. "You are actually the person I wanted to see."
Upon hearing the Opul's face took on a slightly pinker complexion. She did her best to hid it but, Rinko could feel the temperature change coming from he general direction. This made him smile more genuinely at her awkward expression and actions.
"Let me know what it is that I can do for you. Then I will convey the things that are on my mind."
"Um, umm." Clearing her throat to allow her voice to sound clear without hesitation. "I have been spending a great deal of my free time within the underground cavern that we have used as a natural Hot-Spring."
"Has bathing become you highest priority?" His question was half a joke and half serious judging from the tone of his voice.
At first Opul didn't know how to answer. Feeling his gaze scrutinized her form made her mind go blank and not respond the way she wished it to. It was unnerving the impact of his gave had upon her. Especially since the Baptism of Fire that happened in the Hot Spring, as it now being referred to, everything she is feeling is unstable, uncontrollable, and transparent. Giving herself a moment to clear her mind. " No, the mural on the back wall is utterly fascinating."
