Chapter 27
Opul lead Rinko as they both moved along a deserted path away from the village and deeper into the mountains. It was late in the afternoon and the Sun was at it's hottest. Rinko was exerting more energy now on this little hike compared to the fight that he had with Dai'os (Ater Nebula).
"Where are you taking me and what is up with this mountain path?" Rinko complained while panting for air.
"Well, well, well. Isn't this a surprise. To think that the great and powerful Rinko can't accomplish anything without the aide of his God given talents and abilities." Opul openly mocked him.
"What do you mean can't accomplish anything without my talents and power? What you are saying doesn't make much since. Supposed talents aside, without the power necessary one can even walk. So what you are saying doesn't make any shred of since."
"This path is protected by and archway at its entrance. Do you not remember going underneath it when we first started walking this path?"
"I do, but what does that have to do with my weakened state?"
"Everything actually. That archway was a barrier and anyone that chooses to follow the path underneath that archway will have their powers nullified."
"Why is this path protected?"
"Now, that is a much better question to ask. To get the answer to this we much continue until we reach the end of the path. There all the answers that you have about this situation will be answered." Opul turned away from the still winded Rinko and continued down the path.
"Shit!" Angry with himself for one not knowing about the barrier and two being so helpless without the use of his power.
Opul was pulling slightly away from him as he struggled to keep up. The path was very uneven with dips and hidden holes everywhere. Opul didn't seem to even notice as she glided along the path. Rinko on the other hand tripped, fell and stumbled with just about every step.
When the path turned and entered the mountain. The brightness that was outside evaporated and was replaced with sheer darkness. Opul once again didn't seem deterred from the situation and plunged into the void without a second thought. Not to be outdone by her Rinko followed albeit more cautiously.
Upon entering the Mountain cave the temperature dropped and the air became moist. The dampness was thick enough for Rinko to not only smell the moisture in the air but he could taste it as well. The walls were cool to the touch which was a relief in comparison to the heat that was outside but did little to quell the anxiety he was feeling at the moment.
The path twisted and turned many times. Leaving Rinko without his since of direction. While Opul continued to walk ahead. After a long while of traveling like this. The heat in the cave started to rise and Rinko noticed that condensation was gathering on the rocks. Making this already difficult path even more treacherous. The two finally came upon a back entrance to the Hot Spring. They were on a wide and long elevated platform.
Rinko stopped and rubbed his eyes a few times to adjust to the dim lighting that illuminated the underground room. "Why have we come here?" he asked looking confused and exhausted.
"If you have noticed. We came into this room through a different passage in comparison to the normal stairway that leads to this facility. I have brought you through this path for a reason. One it was a test. Making sure that you are the one of destiny and two I have to be the one to tell you of the next journey within your life."
"Test, What kind of test? Plus what do you mean by the next journey within my life?"
"The test was passed only moments ago. When you crossed the threshold entering this cavern. Haven't you noticed that your power is once again flowing through your vanes?"
