Chapter 5

After absorbing the fire ball in its entirity the disc read her power. Crescent's display surprised most of the people within the crowd. Successfully raising the anticipation level of all the witnesses. The crowd excitement was electric and the Sages faces were tangibly heavy as the weight of this situation bore down on everyone viewing the spectacle. The meter on the disk was rising at an incalculable speed. Crescent glanced around at the gathered people. She also took the opportunity to take a quick glance at the Sages.

Everyone had their eyes glued to the measuring disk. If felt as if time had completely stopped. The only thing moving at that moment was the escalating numbers on the measuring device. When it finally stopped the reading of Crescent's power indicated the her current power level was 1000. The crowd was once again stunned into silenced. A dry warm breeze swept trough the camp rustling the branches of a nearby Oak. This breeze brought with it no relief to the beaming hot sun and the dry air that Crescent helped to created with her power. A hawks call was heard in the distance. It could be seen circling high above surveying the situation from it lofty height. The crowd that gathered around the small clearing to watch the display were now looking intently at the Grand Sages. There wasn't a Sage amoung them that wasn't transfixed. All of them were looking at the measuring disc reading with completely baffled expressions.

"Who? What? Where? How the HELL did she learn how to do that?" A spectating member of the crowd practically screamed putting an abrupt end to the silence.

Crescent stood there stone faced. Stubbornly keeping her position and not moving. Keeping herself in the center of the commotion. Her crispy red eyes shone like rubies. As her auras light still radiating with power. She wanted all who thought otherwise and doubted her abilities to understand and view with there own eyes her fortitude and strength. Letting them all know that she was the real deal for she knew that this was more than just a test of strength.

It was a test to see if Crescent could hold her ground and keep a level head in the eye of a disastrous situation. A smirk began to creep accross her face forming on the corners of her mouth. This was the direct result of her tenacity because she knew she had passed with flying colors. However, to her surprise she was actually stronger than four of the nine Grand Sage-rion. And since there can only be nine Grand Sages at any given time. One would have to be removed in order for Crescent to be place within their ranks.

The Sage-rion that would be removed would have been Dai'os. A Sage of considerable power in comparison to other Fire users but his score was a meager 802. In comparison to Crescents 1000 his score just didn't compare. Dai'os was a skinny man. With bulging frog like round light brown almond color eyes, a pointed nose, and an rounded oval shaped chin. The hair on his face was a scraggly blond mess at best. Coupled with his receding hairline his whole look was preety much unkempt. He also conducted himself in a general questionable and seedy manner so he also had an aura of a suspicious character. People generally put up with his blatant flaws because he was a Grand Sage-rion.

"In other words he was generally hated and nobody would really miss him if he were removed from the Grand Sages circle." Tsuga could not help but add his two cents.

"You can't do this!" he sniveled "I am one of the nine Grand Sage-rion." His voice grew an octave or two sqeeking a little.

"Heh, look at the Ratman. He's upset..." Crescent moked him.

"Ratman! Who do you think you are talking to little girl?" Dai'os glared at Crescent.

"I don't see anyone else that looks like a Rat. Do you?" Crescent looked around putting her hand over her eyes as if she were searching for something and spoke with cool calculation.
