I looked to the man, scared and confused. A pang of loneliness took over me as I hugged him and sobbed into his suit. He didn't say anything; he just hugged me and let me cry. After a long time he asked, "Do you want me to take you home?" My eyes widened as I broke away from him. I backed into the fence and started to panic. He was going to take me back to Daddy, the killer of my best friend, who would probably kill me on the spot, too.
The Doctor looked concerned, "Okay, not home, I won't take you home, just stop hyperventilating. Deep breaths." Somehow his calm voice took my mind and he says, "That's better. Now what is your name?"
My face went blank; "I don't know, I have lots of names."
He seemed confused and asked, "Well do you have a favourite?"
I thought about it, "Isabel Jewel, uh, I don't have a last name..."
He gave me a big grin, "How about Smith?" I met his suggestion with a shy smile and nod yes.
"Well it's settled then! Well Izzy- can i call you that?" His words bring a painful set of memories but I nod yes again. "How about you come with me?" he finished the statement and looked into my eyes begging me to.
"Where?" I ask.
His eyes sparkle boldly at my question, "Everywhere, in time and space."
He offers his hand and I smile huge at his ways, "Well, Doctor, where do we go?" I grasp his hand and he pulled me along. We go through twists and turns until we get to the street. I hug Buttons to my chest as we walk. We go for half a block then turn into a little gap between the flower shop and the craft store to see a small blue box sitting in the dark, casting a welcoming glow into the night. The Doctor grabs a key from his pocket and unlocks the door, smiling like a proud father. I let go of his hand and he nods for me to open the door.
I place my hand on the door and slowly push it open. An old creek met my ears, but it was peaceful. Inside, I saw the most amazing sight. A huge room sat there and I walk in a welcoming hum comforts me as I look at the tall arches. My feet clunk on the grated metal floors and I see that there are many ways that go to long hallways and in the centre of the room was the main source of pride; A control console panel with many buttons, wires, leavers, and switches running all up to a large tube that had many smaller ones inside.
The Doctor looked to me as if waiting for something. I just said to him, "Nice place, but what do I call it?"
He looked a little shocked but says, "She is called the TARDIS. Stands for Time And Relative Dimension In Space."
My stomach grumbled with hunger and the Doctor notices instantly.
"Oh. How rude of me, kitchen is this way." He grasped my hand and pulled me through the halls and into a large kitchen filled with everything that you could want and need.
He lets go of my hand and rushes about making something that smells great! I take a seat and look at the Doctor. He was a strange man, kind of familiar but not at the same time, he was energetic but seemed sad but he hid it well.
Soon a plate was set before me. Upon it sat foods that I hadn't eaten before. I looked to the Doctor and he says "It’s a salad, with ham, and fresh strawberries with watermelon. Do you not like it?" He seemed to physically droop at the last bit.
"No I like it, but I haven't ever had this stuff before." He seemed taken aback once again at my response but instead of pressing further he nodded to the food, encouraging me to try some. I eat a piece of the pinkish meat and instantly more flavours burst into my mouth than ever before. After downing the ham I ate the salad then finished the fruit. I gave him a hug and thanked him. He may not have just saved me. He changed my life. Things seem to be a little brighter for me.
